About Luke

With psychology and nutrition sciences education and extensive experience working in rehabilitation, I see myself as wellness-oriented. Every part of the human body and existence connects - mind, body, and spirit. Having worked with clients as young as 9 all the way up to age 89, I know how to motivate and drive a multitude of populations to success. I am the catalyst - my clients make it happen, I just help them unlock their inner Beast!

My favorite client story

I had a client who had never truly been in athletics before. He was a sophomore in high school who had never played football, basketball, or any sport for that matter. He loved to play video games, though. Since I could relate to how he was when I was in early elementary school, I figured out how to motivate him without getting all up in his face like some coaches do at school. At the beginning, it was pretty apparent that he was self-conscious. He felt uncomfortable at the gym around people who had been working out practically their entire lives. As the weeks passed, he saw gradual improvement in his strength, and he even started to lose some weight, too. He developed a new interest for physical exercise that he never had before, his parents told me. 2 years later he was running 5 miles for fun. There was nothing more fulfilling than knowing that I helped direct him toward a better lifestyle.

My favorite exercise

I like using the one-arm dumbbell row with my clients. We use this movement when we are trying to pick up heavy objects off of the ground when leaning on a table, chair or other surface. Also, it helps with starting a lawnmower, which is very applicable if you do your own landscaping!

My favorite quote

"What a man can be, he must be. This we can self-actualization... It refers to a man's desire for self-fulfillment, namely to the tendency for him to become actually in what he is potentially: to become everything one is capable of becoming.". -Abraham Maslow

My training philosophy

Fitness is a way of life. To become and stay physically fit, one needs to develop a mindset of determination and sometimes downright grit. If allowed to do so, this mindset can trickle into other areas of one's life, as they begin to pursue excellence outside the gym in their education, careers, and interpersonal relationships. That's what I'm out to do - to help people develop this mindset and to transmit that mindset to life in its entirety.

My training experience

Having worked with a wide spread of ages for 4 years, I know how to motivate and drive multiple populations to success, having helped some clients lose up to 70 lbs. I have over three years of rehabilitation experience as a physical therapy technician, which has further enabled me to work with clients post-rehab. I've helped clients with conditions including but not limited to scoliosis, cerebral palsy, and diabetes. I have also developed a reputation in DFW not only as a personal trainer but as a prolific retirement home group exercise and water aerobics instructor, and I now help manage the whole enterprise - from South Fort Worth all the way to Rowlett and Allen.
