My name is Roberto Montalvo, but I go by Robbie. I have been involved in athletics ever since I was six years old. I was involved in soccer, basketball, baseball, track and field (indoor and outdoor), rowing, and football. In high school, I focused on football, basketball, and track. I was a 4-year varsity letterman for football, and won medals and set school records in track and field. After high school, I attended Kentucky Wesleyan College where I continued my football career. Here is also where I found my passion; the human body and how it functions. I wanted to become a school teacher to teach health and coach. After college, I started coaching and substitute teaching. Fast forward five years, I looked into the health and fitness industry and the rest is history. I have been a personal trainer since June 2015. I became a trainer because I want to empower people with the knowledge that I have so everyone can live a happy and healthy life no matter your age and fitness level. I have worked with a wide range of clients. High school male and female athletes, brides, and grooms to be, pregnant women, and new moms cleared for exercise. Men and women before and after knee surgery, elderly men and women. I have worked with people prepping for a weight lifting competition, as well as your average joe who is new to fitness and looking to make it a routine. I have helped people lose weight, gain strength, become more mobile and flexible, and get over old or nagging injuries. My training sessions are fun, challenging, and educational. I focus on functional training or things we as people do every day (pushing, pulling, squat, lunge, and plank). I love working with people who are willing to learn.
My favorite client story
I worked with a gentleman named George. George was in his 90s and tough as nails. At 90 he was still driving and functioning at a high level. George worked with me to improve his strength and flexibility. I was inspired by this man to do my best each and every day. Over the course of a few months, his posture improved, and he was using his walker less and less.
My favorite exercise
My favorite exercise is the push-up. It is a simple but effective exercise. The push up has a ton of variations and modifications to challenge or simplify it for the individual.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.
My training philosophy
In life and in exercise we need a strong mind, body, and spirit. It is important to each equally through cardio, weight training, flexibility, and practicing good nutrition habits. Fitness and nutrition should be looked at as a lifestyle that we practice each and every day. There will be roadblocks, but each hurdle we jump over leads us to something greater.
My training experience
I have been a personal trainer since 2015. I have worked in both group and 1 on 1 setting. I love the energy of a group class, just as much as a private session. I have worked with a variety of clients, no matter age or limitation. So feel confident I can tailor an exercise routine for your personal needs.
