About James

I've been a personal trainer for over 8 years and since my initial step into the industry through NASM, I've continued to improve my education and wealth of knowledge by achieving other certifications and my first masters in exercise science from CALU and second masters in exercise science from ECU (based in Australia).

I work with a wide range of clients from those who are looking to stay fit & injury free, athletes across multiple sports, to post-rehab, and to those looking to tone up and build muscle. My training style is a very methodical undertone and that comes from the months and years of studying exercise physiology, program design, mechanics of strength training, and corrective exercise. I always educate my clients to have a better mind-muscle connection and take the time to explain what they should be feeling and the "why". I help build confidence and resilence through strength training.

My favorite client story

I had a former client, in her late 60s, that was a public school administrator who came to me with all the ailments: A to Z. She was looking to primarily lose weight and I knew that in order to get her to her goal I would have to incorporate corrective exercises and progress from there. Only after a month at the start of a Monday session she told me two revelations. She mentioned that the day before she had worn high heels to church for the first time in two decades because she had no heel pain from her arthritis and didn’t feel any residual pain afterwards. The second comment was that she had gotten off the toilet without having to grab anything and pull herself up. It didn’t strike me then but a day or two later I realized that I had brought back elements of life that I took for granted that meant the world to a woman; those intrinsic values meant a lot more than losing weight. She had dropped a few points in body fat at the end of our three months, but I gifted her something you can’t put a number on.

My favorite exercise

Trap Bar Deadlift

My favorite quote

“You can see seeds in apples, but you can’t see apples in seeds.”

My training philosophy

You can’t expect to make your body move like a Ferrari if you’ve got bad parts to begin with. Working on the smaller details will increase your performance and confidence regardless of your goals. I primarily inspire greater muscular awareness and help clients tap into their unknown talents.

My training experience

I’ve had the privilege to be taught by industry leaders from the US and abroad with all my educational pursuits. My experiences working with industry-known facility and mentors also has broadened my training philosophy.

I personally enjoy strength training and different modalities in an effort to stay dynamic in my athletic abilities.
