About Wes
Have you always wanted to get in shape but struggle to make it happen? Do you wish you could walk into a gym and know exactly how to work out and use all the machines? What about flexibility and mobility? Is your lower back bothering you? Do you deal with aches, pains, and tightness? Whether you're looking to get in shape, win a race, learn yoga, or simply manage your time better to live a healthier life, I'm here for you. But my training doesn't end in the gym - together we'll look at your schedule, nutritional needs, exercise habits, sleep patterns and more to make you a happier, healthier person.
When I began my fitness journey over 15 years ago, I wish I'd had a personal trainer who not only lead me through workouts but also taught me how to workout on my own - how to structure my own program, how to create a well-rounded fitness routine, and educated me on all things related to exercise and training.
That's what I'll do for you. Not only will I coach and train you, I will also teach you everything you need to know to be successful on your own.
My favorite client story
I started a client on an upper body workout 1x/week. After just 1 month (4 sessions) she improved her rep count and weight in every single muscle group - chest, back, shoulders, biceps, and triceps!
My favorite exercise
While I practice a mix of weight lifting, cardio, and flexibility training in my normal routine, my favorite workout is called Isometrix featured in P90X3. It's a 30 minute workout that focuses on the hardest parts of yoga: holding balance poses for 45 seconds!
My favorite quote
"Outside of a dog, a man's best friend is a book. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read."
-Groucho Marx
My training philosophy
Balance in all things. The body needs resistance training, cardiovascular endurance, and a mix of flexibility/mobility/and stability in order to function well. Everyone has different preferences and abilities, so it's simply a matter of figuring out a plan that's challenging yet enjoyable, plus well-rounded.
My training experience
I played sports throughout childhood and ran track & cross country in high school. In college I participated in a 74-day, cross-country cycling event from Seattle, WA to Washtington DC. I began weight training in my garage in 2012 using P90X and have since branched out into other training programs including CrossFit, Orange Theory, F45, and more. Plus, I've put together comprehensive training routines using nothing but YouTube videos!
