VerifiedAbout Jo
I like being outside. I enjoy hiking, fishing, jogging, gardening, kayaking and riding horses. I have been in EMS/Policing since 2005 and obtained my FF2 certification in 2011. I enjoy helping people and hope to eventually work with patients that are dealing with chronic pain. I became a Personal Trainer because I enjoy working out, especially Yoga and Pilates and want to help people lead healthy active lives.
I am an A.C.E. Certified Personal Trainer and Health Coach. I have a Master's Degree in Nutrition and Human Perfomance through Logan College of Chiropractics in Chesterfield Missouri.
I believe in a lifestyle change, not dieting, to change who you are you must be willing to look at the good and not so good parts of yourself and constantly work to make yourself better than you were the day before. Family and happiness are everything in my book and to enjoy those to the fullest you have to take care of yourself. I try and help my clients learn healthy lifestyle choices that fit their lives. No one is the same or has the same needs and I prefer to tailor training based on specific client needs.
My favorite client story
My first client had tried everything and nothing worked. We set about focusing on a lifestyle change that was slow and methodical and the look on my client's face the first time she was able to cross the monkey bars was what it's all about! The pure joy and happiness she experienced in that moment is something I will never forget.
My favorite exercise
Yoga, swimming, hiking or horseback riding and gardening.
My favorite quote
Veni, Vidi, Vici- I came, I saw, I conquered - Julius Caesar
My training philosophy
It’s about a lifestyle change not immediate results. We have to get the brain to be in the same place as the heart.
My training experience
I’ve worked out and focused on my training and fitness through working on the farm and with horses. I enjoy jogging and have competed in a Tough Mudder and thoroughly enjoyed the team spirit it brings about.
I've trained in Tae Kwon Do in my youth and helped with high school wrestling events as a trainer. I do enjoy my gym time with resistance training and add that into as much time outdoors as possible.
