About Melissa

Hello! I’m Melissa, the proud owner and founder of Making Strydz, LLC, in Castle Rock, CO. I am a veteran, a daughter, a sister, and a cancer survivor. My passion for health and fitness began in 2005, but my journey took an unexpected turn in 2019 when I faced serious health challenges that led to a life-changing diagnosis.

After nearly a year of tests and hospital visits, doctors discovered a growing mass in my lung and airway. In November 2021, I underwent a difficult yet successful surgery that not only restored my health but also reinforced my purpose—to help others prioritize their well-being, no matter the obstacles they face.

This experience fueled my commitment to creating Making Strydz, a company dedicated to empowering individuals to embrace a healthier, more fulfilling lifestyle. I know firsthand that life can bring unexpected challenges, and I am here to support and guide you every step of the way. Together, we’ll build strength, confidence, and resilience—one stryd at a time.

My favorite client story

I’ve had the privilege of working with so many incredible clients, each with their own unique journey, but what truly inspires me is seeing their transformations—both physically and mentally.

One client shared:
"Working with Melissa has been incredible. Her tailored workouts and guidance have helped me make significant physical and mental improvements over the past year. She's an amazing coach who knows when to push and how to motivate. I highly recommend her for her adaptability and training style."

Another client expressed:
"Melissa at Making Strydz is highly recommended! Her professional and thorough approach to training resulted in improved flexibility, increased strength, and overall satisfaction. I just started working with her to get more toned and already feel better and stronger. Looking forward to seeing more positive results!"

Seeing my clients gain confidence, strength, and a renewed sense of well-being is why I do what I do. Their success fuels my passion, and I’m honored to be part of their journey!

My favorite exercise

While I don’t have just one favorite exercise, I love workouts that challenge both strength and endurance. One of my recent sessions combined power, stability, and cardio for a well-rounded burn:

???? Dumbbell Bicep Curls – Building upper body strength
???? Dead Bug – Core stability and control
???? Dumbbell Incline Bench Press – Upper body power and endurance
???? 2-Mile Interval Run on the Treadmill – Cardiovascular endurance and stamina

I love how this combination pushes me physically and mentally, fueling my journey toward strength, resilience, and overall vitality! ????????

My favorite quote

These quotes keep me motivated, focused, and inspired every day:

? "It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver." – Mahatma Gandhi

? "Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live." – Jim Rohn

? "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." – Pelé

? "The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary." – Vidal Sassoon

? "It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently." – Tony Robbins

These words remind me that health, success, and growth come from dedication, perseverance, and daily effort—values I strive to instill in myself and my clients! ????????

My training philosophy

I believe that everyone has the potential to achieve their fitness goals and live a strong, vibrant life. Fitness is not one-size-fits-all, and I honor each person’s unique journey, meeting them where they are and guiding them toward where they want to be.

My approach is holistic, integrating physical exercise, nutrition, stress management, and self-care to create a well-rounded path to wellness. True health isn’t just about workouts—it’s about balance, sustainability, and making fitness an empowering part of your lifestyle.

I am committed to helping my clients take control of their health by creating personalized, adaptable plans that fit their goals, abilities, and daily lives. My mission is to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and habits for long-term success, building confidence and strength inside and out.

At the heart of my training philosophy are compassion, empathy, and respect. I strive to foster a supportive, judgment-free environment where fitness becomes a source of joy, empowerment, and transformation. No matter where you start, you are capable of incredible things—and I’m here to help you every step of the way.

I just recently hit my year milestone working with Melissa, and let me tell you, she's an amazing coach/trainer! I started out in pretty bad shape (physically and mentally) but with Melissa's guidance and thoughtful workouts tailored to my needs I've seen so much improvement over the last year. She is awesome to work with, pushes when you need pushing, and a great motivator! I can't recommend her enough or say too many good things about her training style and adaptability for each of her clients.

I am endurance athlete but never did much weight training. I did some research online and reached out to Melissa at Making Strydz. She was super easy to talk to and did a free evaluation which included medical questions, my habits, lifestyle, experience with weights and what my goals are. I was impressed with how professional and thorough she was. I ended up signing up and it was worth it!!!! I didn't have much flexibility but after working with Melissa, I was able to lift heavy boxes over my head which helps when putting things in the attic and my grip strength also increased. I have worked with other trainers in the past and can say that Melissa is one of the best out there! I just started working with her to get more toned. I feel better and have gotten stronger. She measures every 4 weeks so looking forward to those numbers changing. I highly recommend Making Strydz!!
