About Melissa

Hi there! I'm Melissa, the proud owner and founder of Making Strydz, LLC. Based in Castle Rock, CO, I am a veteran, a daughter, a sister, and a cancer survivor. My journey to creating Making Strydz began after my own battle with cancer. I have been passionate about health and fitness since 2005, but in 2019, I faced unexpected health challenges that led to my diagnosis. It took a year of tests and hospital visits before the doctors discovered a growing mass in my lung and airway. After a tough but successful surgery in November 2021, I realized the importance of helping others achieve their best health, especially during challenging times. This inspired me to establish Making Strydz, a company dedicated to empowering individuals to embrace a healthier lifestyle, one stryd at a time. I understand life's unexpected turns, and I'm here to support and guide you on your journey to a happier, healthier you.

My favorite quote

These are a few quotes that keep me motivated and centered -
"It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver." - Mahatma Gandhi

"Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live." - Jim Rohn

"Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." - Pele

"The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary." - Vidal Sassoon

"It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently." - Tony Robbins

My training philosophy

My approach to training is rooted in the belief that everyone has the potential to achieve their fitness goals and lead a healthy, fulfilling life. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to fitness, and I recognize that each person's journey is unique.

I take a holistic approach to training, considering not only physical exercise, but also nutrition, stress management, and self-care. I believe that proper health and wellness come from finding a balance in these key areas.

I also strive to empower my clients to take ownership of their health and fitness journey. Instead of imposing a strict program, I collaborate with my clients to develop a personalized plan that suits their lifestyle, goals, and preferences. My aim is to equip my clients with the skills, knowledge, and habits to make lasting changes and enjoy a healthier, happier life.

Fundamentally, my training philosophy is based on compassion, empathy, and respect. I approach each client with an open mind and heart, and endeavor to foster a safe and supportive environment where they can progress. I firmly believe that fitness should be empowering and enjoyable, and that everyone deserves to feel confident and capable in their own body.
