About Tacia

San Diego born and raised, Tacia is a California girl at heart. With happy roots in Cos Cob, Connecticut. Aside from nature, she has recently been enjoying the slower pace of life outside NYC.

Tacia’s (pronounced: TA- SHA) journey to health began in 2010 in her first Zumba class in Puerto Rico. The class was about an hour - half kick boxing, half Zumba. For someone who was overweight, this was frightening but empowering when I realized I had the potential to keep up - so she did. In 2012, Tacia began her career in Fitness and was formally licensed as a Zumba Instructor. She set out to New York City one month later to pursue my Masters in Sociology of Education at New York University.

Between writing graduate papers, tutoring elementary kids doing research, Tacia dedicated her time to teaching a Zumba classes with Shape Up NYC a program through the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. After completing her graduate degree in 2014, Tacia worked in the Charter school system for another year before deciding that she passionately loved the community and expression teaching group fitness classes.

Since then, Tacia has been teaching Group Fitness classes all over New York City for several private and corporate gyms. After 8 years of experience in the industry and losing over 50lbs in the process, she reflects on “spending so many hours in the gym and working long hours not only to keep my clients and myself accountable were rough. I was not keen on having social time because I was always so run down and out of energy. After a while I put less energy into it.” Her students and colleagues became her community.

Fitness has taught Tacia that we all have to create our own paths for our health. Nobody can tell another how they are really feeling inside. The ultimate way you can empower someone is to help them recognize and build on their habits and skills to help them live a more thoughtful life. She truly believes that recognizing each client’s uniqueness’ in lifestyle and interests goes beyond sets & reps. It is also the habits that we build that can really have a huge impact on the quality of their lives.

Tacia blends her unique skillsets in education, fitness and behavioral modification to craft personalized programs and group experiences that empower you to create a more energized & centered lifestyle.
