Abel Miranda
About Abel
I am a Health & Wellness Coach and Personal Trainer with years of experience helping clients improve their strength, body composition, mobility, nutrition, and overall quality of life. My approach to fitness is also deeply influenced by my own health journey. I have lived with Type 1 diabetes since childhood and understand firsthand the challenges of managing exercise, nutrition, blood sugar fluctuations, and severe hypoglycemia while trying to maintain an active lifestyle. I have also navigated bipolar disorder and long-term struggles with insomnia, which have given me a personal understanding of how sleep, mental well-being, energy levels, motivation, and physical health can interact.
These experiences have shaped the type of trainer I am. I understand that fitness is not always as simple as “eat better and exercise more”. Health conditions, medications, sleep, stress, recovery, confidence, and day-to-day energy can all affect a person’s ability to exercise consistently. I specialize in meeting clients where they are and developing realistic, progressive fitness and wellness strategies around their individual circumstances. I particularly enjoy working with people who are rebuilding their health, managing chronic health challenges, trying to lose weight, gaining strength, or returning to exercise after a difficult period.
Professionally, my background includes one-on-one health and fitness coaching, fitness assessments, weight-loss programming, hypertrophy and strength training, rehabilitation-focused exercise, movement, and holistic nutrition coaching. My credentials include Personal Trainer certification, Senior Fitness Specialist, Group Fitness Specialist, Weight Loss Specialist, Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach, Applied Movement Neurology Level 1, Health Practitioner training, and SilverSneakers training in Foundation, Yoga, Circuit, and Tai Chi. My educational background also includes Exercise Science.
A typical session with me is supportive, structured, and individualized. We establish where you are today, identify realistic goals, and progressively build strength, movement quality, conditioning, confidence, and sustainable habits. My personal health experiences allow me to bring empathy and practical understanding to coaching, while my professional training provides the foundation for safe and effective fitness programming. I do not replace a client’s physician, mental-health professional, dietitian, or diabetes care team; instead, my role is to help clients use appropriate exercise, movement, nutrition habits, and lifestyle strategies to support the health goals established with their healthcare professionals.
