Hi, my name is Joy Schultz, owner of Fitness with Joy in the Twin Cities (women's virtual and in-home personal training), and personal trainer and group fitness instructor in Minnesota for about 8 years. My husband and I just had our first child, a girl, November 2019! I hold a master's degree in clinical exercise physiology, a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, and have had about 8 years of personal training and group fitness instructing experience. I specialize in women's personal training, pre and post natal, functional exercise, self-myofascial release, senior exercise, pre and post rehabilitation, post cardiac rehab, SilverSneakers, body weight exercise, balance, stretching, weight loss, mat pilates, yoga, barre, chair exercise, aquatic exercise, and nutritional advise. I am looking for dedicated clients that want to see change; clients that want to personal train at least once a week for at least 3 months! I will personal train all fitness levels!

My favorite equipment at home right now are resistance bands. I love yoga, barre, and pilates exercise.

I have had the good fortune to train with Joy for several months now, and I have enjoyed every session. She is wonderful with communication, got a clear sense of my goals before we even met, and is ready with a fresh new workout for me each time. I have made massive progress--much more than I was expecting to--toward my goals in a relatively short period of time, and it's because Joy is knowledgeable, informed, and up-to-date on the latest exercise research. She's not going to be one of those brutal trainers--if you're looking for that, look elsewhere--instead, she's encouraged me to be healthy and low-stress, rethink my relationship with exercise, make it (honestly!) fun for myself, and make it a workable, integral part of my life. I can't thank her enough.
We had a great experience with Joy. She was great working with my 18 year old daughter. Joy kept my daughter on task and motivated.
Joy worked as a personal trainer with my 18 year old daughter. Joy was friendly and kept my daughter motivated through workouts that were suited to my daughter's needs and interests. Then my younger girls ages 16 and 12 also wanted to work with Joy. She agreed to work with them as well and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend her for anyone thinking about a personal trainer of any age.
I had the great pleasure to work with Joy for 12 sessions. I was struggling with pain in my knees and feet. Joy was very thoughtful about listening to my concerns first and then recommended stretches and exercises that help reduce my pain. Joy is very knowledgeable about different forms of exercise. She made a significant effort in creating unique workout plans for me. Joy was gentle enough to care for any joint pains, but she can also motivate you to try harder. She was also fun to talk to and I enjoyed working with her. I highly recommend working with Joy.
