I wanted to work with Nancy because I had fallen twice in the past two years, both times at work. I work on a university campus and I do a good bit of walking.Plus, now at 68, I intend to continue working for a few more years! (My primary interest is balance and strength training, as well as continuing to do MELT. It was important to me that Nancy is a NASM and ACE personal trainer, that she works with older adults, and that she also specializes in instruction for Parkinson's and Alzheimer's patients. Nancy is amazing. She is passionate about her work and her clients. She asks about my week; she genuinely cares about my well being both physically and emotionally. Let me give you only three examples, although I have more. One, she listens and watches so carefully that she can tell when I need a little more time to rest between sets ... when I might be too shy or embarrassed to ask for extra time. So, she suggests 30 seconds or a minute to rest or drink some water. Conversely, she recognizes when I can be pushed a little more so I can see gains and improvement. Two, when I have had questions about knee pain or muscle cramps, she has answers, suggestions, and she often sends web links for further information. three, and most important to me, she gave me excellent tips to avoid falls. One I use every day: Stand up straight, keep your head up, and look in a sweep left to right at least 10 feet ahead as you walk. Brilliant! While her multiple certifications and trainings are important and speak to professional dedication to her career, I think it is equally important that she is personable - friendly, kind and compassionate—in groups and in individual training sessions. She is quick to laugh and quick to praise. I heartily recommend her without any reservations. She would be a remarkable addition to any company, organization, agency or team.
I cannot recommend Nancy highly enough. I have seen Nancy in both a group class setting and as my personal trainer. She is truly gifted as a fitness teacher, and over the course of my 55 years she is the only person who has managed to make me want to return to a class, or work with as a personal trainer. She has a knack of knowing exactly how hard to push her students on any given day to where they feel they have made progress but are not over exhausted. She is always encouraging, and I look forward to seeing her every week. She has also introduced me to MELT and is equally gifted as teacher for this. Any facility or private individual would be lucky to have her.
Nancy Burke has been my personal trainer for the past two years and I am very pleased with the results I have experienced. Nancy is truly committed to being the best trainer she can be and passionate about helping people improve their health and well-being through proper exercise. Her positive attitude and enthusiasm makes the workouts fun and never boring. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a highly qualified and experienced personal trainer.
Having spent years in PT for neck and hip issues, I am finally ready to move to post-PT training, but with caution. I have had some bad experiences in the past with physical therapists claiming they are good with injuries, when in reality, they are not. Nancy is so knowledgable and really understands pain and anatomy. She is teaching the Melt method, while also fitting in aerobic exercise and weight training. I leave our sessions sweaty, happy and energized. Most importantly, we have a great time. I highly recommend her.
