My name is Shannon Eberly. I am a National Academy of SportsMedicine (NASM) certified personal trainer and Class Instructor at several facilities inNYC.
My athletic disciplines started at an early age of 8 years old when I enteredcompetitive gymnastics. Since then, I have funneled my abilities into long-distancerunning, HIIT, circuit training, yoga, boxing, biking/spinning.
In 2016, I took the lead in building the female membership base at Church Street BoxingGym (Manhattan) by developing and teaching several ladies-only classes. In two years, the female memberships had doubled. In addition to my work with Church Street, I havebeen coaching at Orangetheory Fitness for the past two years, immensely improving andrefining my knowledge in heart-rate based interval training as well as group fitness. I also have had the privilege teaching TRX, Senior Fit, boxing & HIIT classes for the past 2 years at Manhattan Plaza Health Club.
With this time and experience, I have built up a large client base, allowing me to develop my own company, Shannon Eberly Fitness LLC. Having my own company has greatly expanded my knowledge on training an eclectic mix of clients. I now have experience training a broad set of clients dealing with injuries, obesity, age-related orthopedic issues, injured clients, women in all stages of pregnancy and several athletes in both on and off seasons.
Although I have come quite far in a short amount of time since being certified, I will never stop learning and am always eager to further my knowledge on this industry.
My favorite client story
When I first started training, my first client was a young 27 year old female named Meryl who struggled with weight all of her life. Being overweight just became the norm for her. She weighed in at 220lbs when we first started. Although working out was not something she did regularly, this girl was fierce! When we first started, she could not hold her own bodyweight, and within months, we were doing bear crawls, full burpees and several stability exercises. After seeing each other 2 days a week for months, Meryl started adjusting her diet as well, and the weight started coming off very quick! The day she went under 200lbs, was the first time since she was in High School. I'll never forget her coming out of the locker room with fitted jeans and a tight black top saying, "Shannon, I have a waist!" Meryl just celebrated her 30th birthday. She is now 175lbs and looking more beautiful than ever. She is happy, healthy and living her best life.
My favorite exercise
A tough circuit! I'm that crazy girl at the gym running from station-to-station, slamming medicine balls, bear crawling to the next station, slamming ropes, and sweating way too much!
My favorite quote
"Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet." -Bob Marley
My training philosophy
Tough but patient. I'm here to change your life style; exercising is never temporary, it's a way of life.
