About Steve

Hi!  Thanks so much for viewing my bio.  I have over 30 years of experience as a health, fitness, nutrition and life coach.  I have extensive experience training people of all ages, from beginners to competitors.  My background includes nutrition consulting for the New York Mets, selected members of the Giants, as well as actors, celebrities and people just like you and me.  I've also created and managed several personal training departments at major health clubs in New York and New Jersey.

 

I have several training styles, depending on your goals, abilities and limitations. I can push you hard, but always keep it safe and smart. I'm a believer in positive reinforcement and feeling good about what you're doing. Injuries are always considered, as I've had a lot myself! I have my own semi-private studio that is clean, discreet and never crowded. I also offer virtual sessions.  I try to give my clients programs that are sustainable and realistic, as we're in this for life!

My training philosophy

Safe, productive and sustainable. I'm 57 years old, so sometimes we say "less is more!"

My training experience

My athletic experience includes competition bodybuilding (in a former life) motorcycle racing and martial arts. I've used my experience in some of the more extreme sports and the injuries that have come with it to develop safe, sane and realistic programs for everyone.

Both Rob and Steve know their stuff - they aren't "failed" athletes who thought it would be cool to be lifelong gym rats; these are people who are committed to being on top of what's happening in the fitness world, and sharing that with you. I've just started seeing Steve (he and Rob train here primarily, with occasional visiting trainers), and find the sessions to be great challenges, incredibly motivating, and kicking my sorry ass. Whether its TRX, kettlebells, biking, cross-fit craziness, or a million other techniques, Rob and Steve are going to work with you to learn about what you want to achieve, and then set out to help you achieve it. And gleefully help you suffer along the way. In other words, be prepared to work - and work hard. Sessions run more than what you pay with a training program at NYSC or other larger-scale membership gyms, but they're worth every penny, in my opinion, and my body seems to think so, too.
