About Marcelly
Hello there, nice to meet you!
I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, with a deep passion for fitness and helping others. I was born and raised in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and have lived in Sydney, Australia for almost 10 years, now based in New York City. I am also an enthusiastic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner and current purple belt. My journey into the world of personal training was driven by a strong desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. My ultimate goal is to inspire individuals to achieve their goals and experience the same sense of accomplishment and well-being that fitness brought to my own life.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced enthusiast, I'm here to guide and motivate you on your journey to success. Looking forward to helping you unlock your full potential!
My favorite client story
One of my most rewarding experiences as a personal trainer revolves around a client who was preparing for a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition. She approached me with a goal to enhance her strength and conditioning for the tournament and sport in general. Through a tailored training program, we focused on specific techniques and exercises to improve her performance. Witnessing her dedication and hard work pay off was incredibly rewarding. On the day of the competition, she showcased not only improved strength and conditioning but also exceptional skill, securing a spot on the podium!
My favorite exercise
My favorite exercises are centered around the lower body. Squats, lunges, and glute exercises are amongst favorites in my fitness routine. Squats engage multiple muscle groups, giving me a solid foundation, while lunges challenges my balance and flexibility. Glute exercises add that perfect finishing touch, contributing to overall lower body tone and strength!
My favorite quote
There's a quote from a Brazilian writer, Clarice Lispector, that says "Sou sempre eu mesma, mas com certeza não serei a mesma pra sempre".
It translates to "I am always myself, but surely I will not be the same forever."
It reflects the idea that while the core essence of the person remains constant, change is inevitable, and individuals evolve over time.
My training philosophy
My approach includes education on fitness, basic/general nutrition, and overall wellness, ensuring clients understand the importance of a balanced lifestyle. Workouts are diverse, challenging, and adapted to each client's fitness level. I maintain open communication, flexibility in scheduling, and a commitment to safety, emphasizing proper form to prevent injury. Continuous learning keeps me informed on the latest studies, showcasing a dedication to providing the best training experience.
My training experience
My training journey began back in 2015, when I was first introduced to a weight-lifting gym. Although, it wasn't until I decided to give Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a try, in 2017 that my passion for fitness truly sparked. As I started to level up and progress in the sport, I started doing competitions which exposed me to lots of new fitness challenges such as weight cutting and rigorous strength and conditioning training sessions. As I was getting my body ready, I was also learning more about the great benefits in having a good fitness routine as well as understanding my body's capabilities and limits.
