About Penelope

My name is Penny Boyd and I just recently became certified as a Personal Trainer through ACE. I passed my exam on August 24, 2018 and have been working with clients now for about a year and a half. I am currently a trainer at Oregon State University as well as a private trainer. I am 22 years old am married and have wonderful little boy of 3 years. I graduated from East Linn Christian Academy in 2015 and was an avid athlete at Lebanon High school playing soccer on the varsity team as well as a high school golfer for East Linn on the varsity team. I have a lot of experience working with athletes especially in these two sports. I am currently also attending Oregon State University majoring in Kinesiology to acquire a degree in Pre-Physical Therapy. I have experience with college students, moms, elderly and disabled as well as middle aged adults looking to get into shape. I have really gained a lot of experience and am always looking for new challenges. I am still new to the industry, but I am confident in my abilities and would love to start working with any client, whether they are young, old, high school athletes, or pregnant women. I am willing to work with clients schedules, and can make any kind of personalized work out program fitting to each individuals needs. Whether you are young or old, just want to get out of the house and motivate yourself to exercise, or are training for competitions or sports events to new mothers and high schoolers, I am anxious to start working with you! I have a gym at home so if you don't have a gym I am able to trin at my facility. 


My favorite client story

My favorite client story would have to be from one of my male clients that I am currently working with at OSU. He started training with me about a year ago. He wanted to lose 40 pounds and build muscle. We worked a lot on foundational movements and in the last year he has shed 35-36 pounds has worked his way up to being able to deadlift 185 pounds, squat more than his body weight and do unassisted pull-ups. His story is so encouraging to me when it comes to seeing how committing to one change in your life can make such a positive difference.

My favorite exercise

My favorite exercise would probably be squatting. I love the squat and do them often. They can be frustrating at times but so rewarding. There are so many different kinds of squats, too!

My training philosophy

Never say "can't", always reach for the stars and push through because you "CAN" do it!
Push yourself, preserve, fuel your body adequately and make sure you are taking proper rest days!
1 Corinthians 6:19
"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?"
This verse says it all! Your body is the temple of God so nourish it, keep it healthy and you will prosper and be able to do God service, serving Him the way he created you to!

My training experience

The past year and a half I have trained elderly, disabled, middle aged women, students and moms. I started out one-on-one training privately with an elderly, disabled lady and now I have been working at a gym with college aged and middle aged individuals. I really care about my clients and am willing to work with anyone! I am always up for a challenge.
