About Jonathan

The aim of Brawn Jon Athletics is to provide accessible, affordable, and focused personal training to those in the Orlando area. Online personal training has grown into a huge market because frankly, the costs of face to face personal training can be oppressive to the consumer. I operate out of my own home gym, allowing me to do several things other trainers cannot: 1) Maintain a clean training space 2) Keep training expenses low for the consumer- I have no overhead costs to pass on, just my love and experience in fitness 3) Invest in equipment that my clients will enjoy 4) Operate on a flexible training schedule- this is from my home after all 5) Build in discounts for referrals and package deals 6) Ability to commute directly to your home and perform training in-home. I have a formal education in Sports and Exercise Science and an applied hands-on education through sport. I have played football, tennis, rowing, basketball, soccer, crosscountry over the past 13 years and now compete as a powerlifter. I not only have the knowledge of sport, but I have lived it.

My favorite client story

One of my longtime clients, Ryan, when we started out he weighed ~360-365lbs. Initially very timid and humble, he was just looking to lose weight to improve his health. We started a strenuous weight training regimen, started incorporating cardio, and over the course of a year and a half he's down to ~225-230lbs. Still wearing the same clothes as when he started. One of his coworkers approaches him at work one day and asks how much weight he's lost, and he tells her. She compliments the work and notes that now he should "tone" what he's got. Unbeknowst to her because of the baggy shirt, Ryan is packing 18" biceps. Complete 180 from how he started, his ego got offended and he pulls out his arms and says, "Oh, I've been on that already girl."

My favorite exercise

Squats. Challenges the entire body, and you'll rarely see anyone that specifically enjoys doing squats. Bench? Everyone loves it. Deadlifts? Everyone loves it. Squats?

My favorite quote

Going to butcher this horribly but Ed Coan once made an observation that weak men can have strong legs, or strong arms, but he has never once met a weak man with a strong back.

Prioritize the core muscles, not just the glamour ones.

My training philosophy

Prioritizing strength and health in a long-term sustainable fashion

My training experience

Started training clients through college in 2017, formally started in 2019 with my own brand. Have since branched out to being an online coach, in-home trainer, among other things
