Several years ago, I was having major migraines and was considered obese for my height and weight. I just didn’t feel well. I was tired all the time and sluggish throughout the day. My drug of choice was Dr. Pepper. I drank at least 3 cans at work and would carry a 2-liter bottle around at home and would finish the bottle daily. I told myself I can’t live like this any longer. I quit drinking soda, and guess what? My migraines went away. I signed up at a gym and became more active and the pounds started to fall away. With healthy eating and daily exercise, my weight was dropping quickly.
In 9 months, I went from 245 pounds down to 175 pounds. Since losing weight I felt the need to help others, so I went to the National Academy of Sports Medicine to become a personal trainer. I became certified in March of 2019. After becoming certified I started working at a local gym to gain practical experience on what I learned in the classroom. In 2019 I heard of the Mesa marathon that was going to take place in February of 2020.
I found out about this race around thanksgiving time. That only gave me around 12 weeks to train to run the marathon. Everyone said I was crazy, but I pushed myself each week to prepare to run. I had a few setbacks but once race day arrived, I finished. I finished with a time of 4:35, not bad for my first ever marathon. I have reached the point where I am now ready to start my own training studio to help you with your health and fitness goals.
