Let’s get after it!
My favorite client story
I have many stories that are memorable. One that I will speak of is a client that was in High School and he played basketball. I was told he won't listen to anyone to improve, however I quickly found out that he was opposite of what others were saying of him. He listened, put the work in and excelled. He worked with me for 2 years before heading to college (my alma mater) on a full athletic scholarship. He did very well and to this day, when I see his parents, they still thank me and it's been 8 years since I've worked with him.
My favorite exercise
I have many, since so many are beneficial and productive to everyday life!
My favorite quote
Don't wait till tomorrow to take care of what u can do today. Procrastination will never get u to your destination. Do it now!
An eagle can fly to heights that a crow can’t reach. There will always be some crows in your life pecking at you, trying to bait you into a fight. But the only way to argue with a crow is to come down to their level. If you find yourself trying to prove your point, upset, in conflict, that’s a sign you’ve come down too low. You need to go back up where you belong. You’re an eagle; quit wasting your time with a crow. That crow can’t go where you’re going. It’s a distraction. Rise above it.
My training philosophy
I run it based on mobility movement, functional movement, strength and conditioning, speed development and diet guidance! I will put the client (general fitness or athlete) through a movement screen first, goals, etc and then build their program from there moving forward. This way I have as much data as I can to accurately pin point imbalances and then I have a better plan of attack to correct them. Once this is improved (time depends) then I start other movements to have the client start moving better and more efficiently.
My mantra that I say all the time to the athletes is to ‘train hard and smart’. This means many different things, but one is to listen to their body and what it’s telling them. I also encourage them, to do their due diligence when it comes to training new ways or taking supplements. I encourage them to ask me questions and I will do my best to answer them or guide them in the right direction.
My training experience
I've been training for 20+ years with athletes and general fitness enthusiasts. I help athletes reach the next level and achieve their goals. I also help other lose weight, function better with everyday movements, mobility work, and nutrition guidance as well. I've worked with clients that have had medical issues such as stroke, heart arrhythmia, diabetes, arthritis, and others but those are a few.

Matt is agreat guy very friendly and a true friend.I worked out with him a lot and he coached me and taught me well. This man knows what he is doing and would be a valuable asset training.
Matt was my trainer in college where I played volleyball. When I heard he moved to Phoenix and was training on his own I immediately called him up. My wife and I have been working out with Matt over the past two years and it has been an amazing experience. We are down to our high school weight and in the best overall shape of our lives. Thanks to Matt’s ability to create strength training that includes a variety of weight, body weight, balance, Etc. we look forward to our sessions. If you choose Matt, he will give you the focus you deserve!
Matt was my weight room coach at Phoenix College. Physically, he had me in top shape. We did a combination of traditional lifting for baseball, and some innovative movements that strengthened the body in unique ways. I felt great, and performed well as a result. However, his presence as a weight room instructor extended further than that; he has been and still is a mentor in life. To this day if I asked for a lift to help an ailment, he would be in my corner. Thank you, Matt.
Matt's workouts are engaging, challenging and effective. He's helped me reach my goal to build strength and made the journey enjoyable!
I've known Matt for about 15 years. I started training with him when I was in high school. I can say from experience that he knows what he is doing. When I started with him, I was quite under-weight and was looking to put on muscle and increase my athleticism for sports in high school and in college. Over the course of my high school years and for most of my college years, he pushed me to be in the best shape in my life. I put on 20-30 lbs of muscle over a 5-6 year time period and many of the exercises/routines that he put me through are things that I still carry with me today as a person who likes to push myself to be at my best, physically. He is not only great for lifting and conditioning, he also has a tremendous knowledge base in nutrition. I wish that I had listened to his advice sooner (when I was younger), as I would probably be even further ahead now in what I'm able to do. I definitely recommend him for anyone, whether you are a teenager looking to get stronger and more athletic for sports, a college student, or just a person who wants to improve on your body image or overall strength. Listen to him, put in the work, and make his programs a habit, and you will definitely see the results that you want to see. He will definitely do his part to get you where you want to be.
If strength and conditioning is your thing, Matt Huntsman is the trainer for you. He personally trained me when he was living in Pennsylvania. Turned this 50 something women into a workout machine. He's tough, but gives you a solid session for your money. If your looking for someone with the background in training college athletes, Matt's your guy!
