VerifiedAbout Christie
I have been involved in exercise all my life, staying active and playing sports. In college I earned my bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Western Washington University and stayed active on their collegiate rowing team. Since then I have been involved in public, private and corporate fitness for over 18 years. I currently personal train clients in their home or at an outdoor location. I can bring equipment to the client and/or utilize the equipment they have and design a program that is specific to their needs and goals. I always incorporate an element of fun into every session. I enjoy working with people who are motivated to change their health but just don't know the best way to go about it. I believe that my strength is changing things up often enough so clients can see consistent improvements as well as enjoy what they are doing. I have six young children, including twins, which gives me a better understanding of the battle to lose weight and regain my level of physical fitness. It is important to me to work with people at their level, but also challenge them so they feel successful.
My favorite client story
I worked with a young man who was pretty overweight and had never done a push-up in his life. It was thrilling the first time he was able to do one on his own. It's important that clients work for their own goals, not the trainer's goals
My favorite exercise
I was introduced to kettlebells after my third pregnancy and attribute them (and my trainer) to my success of gaining back my strength and losing weigh. I have also learned a lot about appropriate core exercises, which I love, from my physical therapist, who helped me recover from the birth of my twins.
My favorite quote
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
My training philosophy
Training is a partnership, not a dictatorship. Once we establish trust, all of my clients have become friends. Many of them I have stayed in touch with for years even after we stopped training. Friends care about each other and their successes, which is why I like this approach to training. A true friend will tell you what you need to hear as well, because they want what is best for you.
My training experience
I have trained a variety of clients over the past two decades. I typically train mom's at any phase in their lives (pre-natal to empty nesters), women over the age of 40 and anyone who just wants to live their life to the fullest. I have several children and have enjoyed helping other children discover a love for movement. I have only trained in people's homes, outdoors or at my home gym because I like the flexibility it allows.
