About Matt

9 years of this teaching movement wow! 100s of clients, many stages of philosophies later...I can't believe I'm still just as obsessed with showing people how to move their body again. My first memory ever was around 4 years old and I was practicing running. What!? Who does that? I was fascinated with my body. It was the ultimate toy that gets better at whatever fun stuff you do with it. Love it and it loves you back.

My favorite client story

Client with with back pain for years (after a car wreck) without being able to figure out how to work out or be pain free. We ignited her love for body-weight and gymnastics-like training. She is addicted and is likely a life-long exerciser never to take for granted the ability to move her body confidently ever again.

My favorite exercise

The yawny stretch

My training philosophy

No Pleasure No Gain. You’re ready to try a softer approach. Moving and flexing can feel amazing. We’ll take that satisfying feeling of a morning yawny stretch and make it last an hour.

Enjoyment: It’s possible to have every movement to be pure relief, instead of a holding-breath struggle.

Less Thinking: You’ll be able to trust your own intuition; letting the sensation do the thinking for you. There’s a lot of ways to workout…the best way is the one you’re most likely to actually do… which happens to be the one you enjoy the most.

My training experience

I've enjoyed 9 years of full time play with clients and their referrals. All this time and I'm obsessed! I'm a professional acrobat as well (hand-to-hand to be specific).

Coach Matt is fun, passionate, and knowledgeable. He has a trained eye for the human body and how to improve movement, increase flexibility, and relieve pain. Training with Coach Matt is always a fun time because of his attitude. I highly recommend spending your time with him, you won't regret it.

Matt is an exceptional trainer who is well rounded and full of knowledge about the variety of muscle groups. I've been working with him for about a month and a half, I've noticed a significant difference in my posture and strength. I like the fact that he emphasizes on form before doing anything strenuous. I enjoy working with him, he is full of energy and fun to work with.

When I first sought out a trainer, I was in a lot of pain from a car accident, and afraid that I would never be able to get back in shape. I was depressed, and scared to even bend over. After only 2 months or working with Matt, I am able to move more now than I have been able to in over 2 years! He is thoroughly knowledgeable, easy to work with, and understands the body. If you are looking for someone who is compassionate and want a trainer who will work with your injuries and put you on a progressive path to success, Matt is your guy!

Matt has gone above and beyond what I wanted to get out of personal training, and I am very appreciative of the time that I do not see but he has to be spending before hand to review my goals and what I want to work on and tie that into what he knows will get the best result. I was stiff as a board before I started training with Matt, and within two sessions felt much looser and more mobile, and within 4 sessions have no more pain in my back or shoulders that I had been dealing with for six to eight months. Matt does walk the walk in being a personal trainer, so if you're reading this comment, sign up with him, its a great investment into your health.

Matt is the best way to change one's mindset toward exercise!! With genuine interest in my intrinsic motivations for achieving healthy change, Matt went above and beyond other trainers I've worked with to transform my often punitive approach to working out and helped me create a healthy, sustainable attitude. Matt carried me through a tough transition when working out and juggling other facets of life just felt like too much. I can honestly say that Matt's approach, which goes beyond purely physical milestones, is a game-changer for the fitness industry. Not to mention the invaluable information he has related to healthy posture and movement. I loved working with him and recommend him to anyone who actually wants to enjoy their fit life!

I spent a session with Matt and that's all I needed to know this trainer is legit. He cares about your goals, takes into consideration your body, and projects you forward with specific coaching. He's knowledgeable and his body mechanics exemplify his years of training he's endured to understand fitness.

I met Matt when I first joined the acro community and he was the first person to successfully base me. He made working out fun and exciting because he believed in me. Never did I think I’d ever do any of the tricks he was calmly talking me through. That’s how he is as a trainer. He’s very thorough and professional. He assessed my current body, workout routine, eating habits, and favorite types of activities. Each session was unique and he modifies different workouts as he sees your body develops and constantly checks your posture and foot position. Then he does the impossible: he found fun things to do so you don’t realize you’re working out.

I am still working thru the idea of working out but Matt has been patient with me. Results are starting to show themselves and we are both encouraged!
