JD’s journey into personal training began in 2003 shortly after his mom passed away. JD has been an avid fitness enthusiast since the age of 13 sharing his passion for exercise with others and took this time to help his dad reach specific fitness goals. JD’s approach to training his dad initially started with 2 days per week in the gym focused on learning the exercises that would help reach the goals set out by his dad. At the time, JD and his dad also took Salsa dance lessons to meet new people which had the added benefit of exercise. By 2011, his dad lost over 50 lbs from an exercise program that included 5 days per week in the gym with a mix of resistance training with free weights, cardio training with an elliptical machine and for continued fun, dancing Salsa every weekend.
After 8 years of personal training his dad, JD accepted an unrelated fitness job in New York City which involved an hour and half commute plus the occasional business travel. This meant JD’s time was limited and he had to learn how to continue his pursuit of his own personal fitness goals under these constraints. Exercises conducted with just JD’s body became an integral part of the exercise program during peak travel time during the year in various hotels with limited equipment. In addition to bodyweight exercises, each session had to be time efficient and convenient to ensure shorter workout times.
JD’s time constraints were removed in 2017 when he accepted a position based in NJ and with his spare time he was able to become certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) as a personal trainer. JD now spends his evenings inspiring his clients in his community to live an active lifestyle through exercise. JD’s approach of understanding his client’s goals, interests and exercise history allows for a custom exercise program. The focus of each session is for the client to have an enjoyable association with exercise to ensure the long term benefits of feeling good through increased energy and reduced stress are attained.
