About Spiros
I am a certified fitness professional with over twenty years of experience. I design and supervise safe and effective exercise programs that incorporate strategies to ensure that my clients are trained in a way that optimizes movement efficiency and correct form without predisposing them to injury.
I work not only with healthy individuals who are looking to improve their overall fitness and well being but also with people who are either at risk for developing a chronic illness or who have a chronic disease such as heart disease, hypertension, type 1, 2 or gestational diabetes, and who have been medically cleared to exercise.
When designing an exercise program for a client, in addition to learning about the client’s lifestyle, I take into consideration the client’s full medical history, which may include things like past or current injuries, surgeries, presence of a chronic illness or other condition and medication usage.
I follow evidence based physical activity recommendations specific to a chronic condition.
My goal is to safely and effectively guide my clients to successful attainment of their goals.
Last but not least, I am also a registered dietitian with over twenty years of experience and as such, I emphasize the link between fitness and nutrition when it comes to achieving one's health and fitness goals, managing long term illnesses and maintaining a healthy body weight.
My favorite client story
Every client is unique and brings his or her own challenges and aspirations. A favorite client story is always one that involves helping a client develop self efficacy, the confidence in their ability to perform better and deal with daily challenges.
My favorite exercise
I favor exercises that use more than one joint and a large amount of muscle, as well as combination exercises that involve multiple movements in one exercise.

I've been working with Spiros since 2011 after recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon. He has since been my fitness trainer, and I've stayed working with him for the many very strong attributes and informed skills he brings: > knowledgeable about the science behind health, nutrition, strength, and cardio fitness > focused on building capacity by increasing demands at the proper pace & keeping track of progress > huge help on my core goal of preparation for each ski season. I find myself seamlessly moving from the gym to "downhill" runs without any difficulty whatsoever.... both cardio and lower body strength. > attuned to physical realities of a senior like me [73], things like balance, 'core' strength etc. > always on time, friendly yet professional demeanor who can adjust to periodic schedule changes > finally, a highly trained experienced nutritionist [MS] who can advise on proper nutrition as well. Therefore, I endorse Spiros unequivocally - - for his dedicated focus on his clients and his genuine desire to help them realize personal health and fitness goals.
You can't do better than Spiros! He's been my trainer for 7 years. I have balance problems and Osteoporosis and Spiros not only knew how to address these concerns but he really impressed me by immediately researching - and even taking specific courses - to add to his knowledge so that he has an arsenal of exercises, techniques, and safe methods to address my needs. And it's not just for me. He's really smart and is constantly learning about exercises, the human body, various diseases, food and diet, etc. Spiros' personality makes him very easy to work with. He's warm, positive, encouraging and tries to make the workout enjoyable. He always comes on time (pretty amazing) and practically never misses a session.
I have worked with Spiros for the last 17 years and I think he is an absolutely fabulous trainer. I have worked with him twice a week consistently and he is knowledgeable, creative so that our workouts are never boring, and so motivating. There have been some mornings where I am feeling less than interested in working out but as soon as I see Spiros, I find myself working out hard and enjoying the challenge. He corrects my form when necessary but does it in a very supportive manner. He also knows so much about the human body that if I ever have an injury, he not only reworks the workout so that I let that body part heal, but gives me suggestions as to how to strengthen an area to prevent a re-injury. Spiros is also very knowledgeable about nutrition as he has his masters in nutrition and is able to help me when I have questions I need a professional to answer. He is also so pleasant to work with. He arrives in a good mood ready to work and is always supportive if I need to vent about almost anything. I cannot recommend a better trainer than Spiros.
