About Ken
As an adult athlete I still compete in bicycle races, soccer games, and running events. I also play golf, hike, strength train, and trail run. While I enjoy working in all types of facilities, I prefer to work with people who wish to engage in programs that include a variety of training methods and activities which can be conducted both outdoors and indoors. I also teach at the community college level and stress the importance of developing a healthy lifestyle by being active and adhering to sound nutritional guidelines. I especially enjoy working with baby-boomers who want to live an active lifestyle.
Your success is simply a matter of making it about YOU, not me. I will work with and for you to help you in establishing and achieving whatever lifestyle goals you want to set for yourself that may improve your health and wellness.
My favorite client story
Helping a 23 year old female learn how to run a mile. It wasn't that she did not have the ability to do so, it was more of her not having the belief in herself that she could. Within a month of working together to make sure she had small successes of going from walking to shuffling to jogging to running, she was able to complete a mile in under 12 minutes. From there, it was easy to get her onto a regular running schedule of one mile runs, three days a week. After the second month she had improved her time to under 10 minutes. As a bonus, she also lost 8 pounds.
My favorite exercise
Any activity that combines the use of both the skeletal-muscular and cardiovascular systems simultaneously. It could be as simple as a "brisk" walk or as complex as a intensive cross-training session.
