About Maxwell

My name is Maxwell Faulkner and I AM the trainer for you! I am a graduate from Purdue University West Lafayette, IN where I received a Bachelors of Science with a degree in Applied Exercise and Health/Kinesiology. I originally went into the health field when I decided I wanted to help childhood obesity. Since obesity continues to grow in the United States (70% of the nation) I wanted to stop this trend by teaching kids why exercise, proper nutrition, and maintaining stress levels are important to everyone's lifestyle. I first started personal training at Purdue University's Co-Rec where I trained people, taught group exercise classes, and taught a cancer wellness class. Once I moved to California, I became a trainer for 24 Hour Fitness and LA Fitness for 2 years. Over the past 10 years I have trained children, adolescents, adults, elderly, pregnant women, and people with disabilities, injuries, and serious health conditions. I also was a Physical Education Teacher for 3 years in Los Angeles, CA where I taught children the fundamentals of fitness and exercise. The kids were shocked at first because they thought PE was just for sports, but instead I showed them that it was life rather then a game. PE was meant to teach you how to live your best life! Throughout those 3 years, I helped children who didn't know what exercise even was, to reaching their fitness goals. Our Muscular Strength and Endurance tests had a 93% passing rate. I trained kids who couldn't even rep out 1 push up to 40 push-ups in a span of a few months.  I also was a Head Varsity Women's Basketball Coach at Math and Science College Prep Academy where I taught girls that didn't even understand how to dribble a basketball, to becoming a championship team. We won the CIF Division 5 LA City-Sectional Championship in 2018 and were Runner-Up in 2019. I also won Division 5 Women's Basketball Coach of the year. I love working with athletes! I now live in Franklin, TN, and so excited to continue using my expertise to help people incorporate exercise into their daily lives. Overall, my specialties include: WEIGHTLOSS, SPORTS CONDITIONING, AGILITY TRAINING, CARDIOVASCULAR CONDITIONING, MUSCULAR STRENGTH AND ENDURANCE TRAINING, FLEXIBILITY TRAINING, INJURY PREVENTION AND REHAB, and more! If you are looking for a Fitness Professional that is motivating, caring, able to push you to your limits, and will stop at nothing to help you reach your goals, I am the trainer for you!

My favorite client story

A story I will never forget was when I was working as a Physical Education Teacher. Now, just so we are clear, I was a different kind of PE Teacher. I taught kids the fundamentals of exercise and fitness, compared to just rolling out a ball and having the kids play. Even though we all had fun playing sports at times, teaching the children how to incorporate exercise into their daily lives was my sole purpose at this school. There was this one kid who was morbidly obese and had to use an inhaler because of his asthma. I made it my goal to help this child to the best of my ability to get this kid on a healthier track. The child ended up coming to me everyday asking if we can work on his mile time, so I would jog with him every single class until he got better. His original mile time was over 30 mins, and we were able to cut it to 16 mins in a span of a few months. He also lost 20 pounds that year. At the end of the year, he told me he was transferring schools; which was sad for both of us. Before he left I handed him a workout routine that I designed for him. In tears, he handed me his inhaler and said, "the doctor said I don't need it anymore. I promise I will continue this workout routine. I won't let you down!" This story still to this day tears me up, but I want this story to be hopefully an inspiration for anyone who believes they can't get their bodies on a healthy track. I promise you, you can, and I will help lead you to a healthier lifestyle!

My training experience

I've been a Personal Trainer for almost 12 years now. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Exercise and Health at Purdue University. I worked as a Personal Trainer at Purdue's Co-rec where I trained clients 1 on 1 and even taught group exercise classes. I also worked at Purdue's Ismail Center where I taught a cancer wellness group exercise class for women who were diagnosed with cancer. I worked for 24 Hour Fitness and LA Fitness for 2 years where I trained numerous clients and helped them to achieve their goals. I became a Physical Education Teacher for 3 years and helped students learn the importance of fitness and exercise. Our Physical Fitness Test scores were over a 90% passing rate and were the highest in the South Los Angeles area. During that time I was also the Head Varsity Women's Basketball Coach for MSCP High School. We won the 2016 Division 5 Sectional Championship and I was named coach of the year that season. For the past 5 years, I've been a travel trainer where I train clients in their houses, private gyms, parks near by, and sometimes beaches!
