About Melanie

Hi! I'm Melanie - I grew up in New York and have enjoyed health and wellness since I was 14. I was a gymnast growing up and have always loved combat style training (boxing, jujitsu), gymnastics & calisthentics, as well as strength training. After graduating with a degree in psychology, I became certified as a trainer and have been helping clients build a healthier, sustainable lifestyle ever since.

I love to incorporate different styles of training within each training session, making sure to use progressive overload to reach your goals as well as making individualized programs so that you're getting exactly what you need. I am supportive and will push you beyond your perceived limits at the same time. I truly pride myself in being a phenomenal coach, really being able to connect with my clients and create lasting, healthy lifestyle habits. I love to educate people on why we're doing what we're doing, and showing you new things to keep things spicy.

Training with Melanie is a great experience. Whether she’s known you on a personal level or is training you for the first time, she is professional and goal oriented. She guides you through every exercise while showing you the target areas you are going to hit during the workout. She’s VERY patient. Willing to show you a movement as many times as you need to understand it because she wants you to do it right not quick. I train with her weekly and it’s a new experience every time.

Let me just start by saying this: I’ve consistently trained in both group and individual trainer styles for over seven years now— Melanie Nyhan is by far the best. Unfortunately for me she has relocated to Colorado but when she reached out to see if I could recant my experience with her via review I absolutely had to stop what I was doing!! She’s that great. Honestly the more I think about my current trainer here in Buffalo, NY the more bummed I’m getting! Hahah Joking… kind of!! Here are the three reasons why you should consider Mel as a trainer: 1. She Listens: As mentioned I’ve been trained in various settings and with over a dozen trainers. Mel was one of two trainers whom in my opinion, actually listened to me. She critically listened to my goals/weaknesses and even fears, and then she helped me create a tailored plan FOR ME, with me. 2. She’s unjudgmental as Fuck! I am my own worst critic but knowing that doesn’t make vulnerability any easier… especially with a stranger. Mel made it really easy after our initial consult to feel safe showing up. I remember our first few sessions together got easier and easier for me because I could feel her genuine support and lack of judgment for where I was at in my physical ability. She really created a safe space and met me where I was at! 3. She’s Got the Juice: She has the science + background knowledge/experience that I simply don’t have the time or desire to learn about (if we’re being honest). I felt secure knowing that Melanie studied exercise science and even had some basic knowledge in physical therapy— both of which were important to me because I had no clue what the heck I was doing!! Anyways, after 9 months with her consistently (we did a biweekly session, total of 18 sessions before she moved) I could feel the difference. She helped me build a foundation and I havnt looked back since!!! If you’re in the Denver area and needing some help getting going I highly suggest that you contact Mel! I have no clue what she’s charging these days (full transparency: I paid $125/session but back then she also was helping me with a diet/meal plan so things could be different now) but it’s worth every investment— it’s YOU after all! Quit waiting. Make some goals. Get some help. Be patient + consistent. See the change.

Mel is professional, kind, patient and understanding with your goals. From her choises of music to her incredible dance moves, she allows you to have fun while your training! I never felt comfortable in the gym or with my body and she gave me the encouragement and confidence I needed. I am pleased with my progress and the atmosphere she brings keeps me coming back. I wanted to write a review for Melanie though because every time I had a session with her I became a better, stronger, healthier version of myself physically and mentally. I’ve never had a trainer listen to my goals and find a way to get me there that worked for me. She doesn’t apply any one size fits all techniques and trains not only your body but your mindset. I was lucky enough to find Melanie at the gym I was already going to, I wanted to work out with her just by catching her vibe across the room. I introduced myself and it changed my relationship with fitness forever after. Her energy is bright, magnetic, motivational and will keep you coming back to the gym even on your worst days. You’ll never regret booking with Melanie I promise.

I can't say enough how much Melanie has helped me physically and mentally. I've worked with other trainers, and she is by far the most knowledgeable. I love that she teaches me different options for exercises so I can start with the modified version and transition to the more difficult version. I feel like I can ask Melanie questions and never worry about if she is going to judge me or think I'm silly. I've seen results on a weekly basis- the workouts that she creates for me are challenging and fun at the same time so I feel motivated to keep going. Melanie is also an amazing person to spend time with and I look forward to seeing her each week. If there was an option for 11/10- she is it!

Melanie is amazing! From the moment I asked if if I could book an appointment with her, she was proactive and asked to meet with me to understand my goals, what I wanted to get out of the training, and get to know me personally. She was extremely flexible with me on schedule, so I was able to find a cadence with her that worked and when I was not able to make a session we figured out a way to have the two session we scheduled every week. Melanie had admitted that she was not super familiar with strength training, but she went above and beyond to ask around for tips and training programs that would get the results I was looking for. Ultimately, I was able to hit my goals much more quickly than expected thanks to her. Melanie was the best trainer I’ve had, and I would recommend her to anyone that wants the personal touch that everyone wishes they had in a trainer.
