Training to me is about teaching people to move well, giving them confidence in their bodies, and taking ownership of their health.
I make sure to understand why and what you want to achieve, so I can map out a plan to get you there. Your training program will be custom tailored to your goals, abilities, physical history, and lifestyle to deliver sustainable and lasting results.
I'm passionate about movement and am inspired by multiple schools of thought: from weight training to yoga, gymnastics, and Pilates. I meld these different disciplines into a multi-faceted training approach that helps you build a supple, strong, and healthy body.

Alice is the consummate trainer. Her wealth of knowledge, insight, and expertise on how to achieve the individual goals of each client is exemplary. Alice’s training methods go beyond a normal workout. She is intuitive, creative, thinks outside the box and makes every session unique and interesting. She pays close attention to form, bringing purpose to each exercise. Alice also re-evaluates my ability as I progress, developing new programs that challenge me. The transformation that I have seen in my body since I started training with Alice 4 years ago is absolutely phenomenal. I never believed it was possible for me to look this way; sculpted and toned, with definition in every muscle group, and I’m amazed by how much my posture has improved. This has given me a newfound sense of confidence, which carries over into every facet of my life. Alice has changed my life — I eagerly look forward to every session with her and leave feeling the full benefits of a total mind/body workout. Alice is one in a million and I am truly grateful to have her as my trainer.
I had my first session with Alice in September, 2012. I was extremely skinny and really wanted to be stronger and dramatically change my body type, but I had never trained at a gym and was apprehensive to say the least. Alice immediately put me at ease, listening to my fears, noting my goals and thoughtfully and conscientiously putting me on a path to success. I was scared personal training was going to be about someone yelling at me and pushing me to my breaking point, but Alice is always gentle, always patient and encouraging, but also willing to put her foot down when she knows you can do more than you think you can! All these years later, I still enjoy our sessions and have grown to love going to the gym. I have gotten bigger, which has definitely helped my confidence, but more importantly I’ve grown to understand my body much better, to listen to what it needs and respond in kind. The best thing about Alice is that whenever you come to her with some confusion or problem she doesn’t just brush it aside, but earnestly engages with your concerns and gives you practical ways of addressing them. She is genuinely fascinated by how the body works and is constantly learning and improving herself. Her clients benefit enormously from this focus and passion.
Coming to Alice 2 years ago was the best decision I’ve made. While I’ve been fairly athletic and active all my life, I wanted a personal trainer to help me focus on strengthening and toning my body and to help me have a pain-free, stronger, more agile body to counteract the very sedentary job I have. If a little weight loss came with that, I’d take that too. So far, so great! Alice is an extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and mindful trainer who tailors each session to my needs while constantly creating variety and fun. That she does this with a cheerful smile, encyclopedic knowledge, and thoughtful coaching is what makes training with Alice the best part of my week and the last 2 years.
I have Parkinson’s disease. Exercise is just as important as medication for me. Under Alice’s gentle, but firm guidance and skillful patience I have been able to move parts of my body that I have not moved in at least 20 years. Alice has significantly lessoned my fears concerning falling and my balance has improved considerably. On my most recent visit to my neurologist, the doctor wrote on her evaluation: “Keep up the great gym work!” Alice is very good at explaining how my body moves and functions. She has made me aware of how my body feels for the first time in my life. There have been many times I have said to Alice that I will never be able to do a certain exercise. With Alice’s motivation I have eventually been able to do all of them. Everything we have done is important to me. Having Parkinson’s and being of advanced age, I’m now 67, I say in utter seriousness that I am eternally grateful for having the privilege of working with Alice Bertoni.
I started training with Alice over 3 years ago. After sustaining injuries in group fitness classes, I was looking for individualized training that focused on proper form, alignment and function. Add to that, motivation! Alice switches up training circuits so that no two sessions are alike. We work with weights, kettlebells, TRX, or simple body weight. We include interval cardio training. We also incorporate yoga and Pilates movements. Alice knows your body and she keeps you working! I have consistently witnessed increased energy, mobility, and balance. Most of all I love being strong!
What can I say about Alice that you won’t know within the first 5 minutes of meeting her? As a sports rehabilitation specialist and manual physical therapist I interact with a lot of personal trainers and see the spectrum of education level, passion, and capability. Alice is at the top of each list and is as good as it gets to work with the complicated and simple personal training client. We have shared numerous patients over the years and I always appreciate her analysis and feedback and trust that the person will be treated carefully and comprehensively, while continuing to heal under her care both during rehabilitation and after. Alice is accessible and easy to communicate with. She makes me feel like I have eyes on the ground even when I’m not there in person. On top of all this, she is an absolutely loving, caring, and spectacular person. Anyone would be lucky to have her as a safe, smart, and caring trainer!
Alice is the only personal trainer I have worked with who customizes my workout to the specific needs of my body. At my age, flexibility, mobility, and balance are as important as strength. I love to play golf and with Alice’s help in focusing on these areas, especially mobility, my game has gotten more enjoyable and I can play more often. Every session with Alice is interesting and fun. Over the last 5 years she has worked with me to improve my overall health to the best it has been in years.
I started working with Alice 3 1/2 years ago, as I was recovering from breast cancer and chemotherapy at age 68. Alice was so sensitive to my physical weaknesses and has built up my strength and stamina. Having never had personal training before, I had no idea what to expect. Working with Alice has been an enlightening experience. At each session she is tuned in to whatever is going on with my body. My outlook and body have benefited from her training. I see myself as more physically able. My balance has improved tremendously. Going up and down stairs— a constant in my life - no longer causes pain. Best of all, Alice is a lovely person and so committed to her career as a trainer, always adding new capabilities. I highly recommend her as a trainer.
Initial hesitations I had regarding working with a trainer were quickly overcome during the first sessions I worked with Alice. Her comprehensive approach, identifying areas of focus and tailoring workouts to meet my goals, has resulted in an overall increase in flexibility and strength and better posture. Alice is positive in her guidance and feedback and plans sessions with a variety of activities. She has inspired me to continue training and progress in my achievements.
