About Mark

Since I was a child, physical activities were a constant part of my life, so it was no Surprise that I would choose Fitness and Nutrition as my career. I truly believe that with Exercise and a balanced diet anyone can have a Healthy, Energized, Positive and Happy life. Excuses are Gone... If you are ready to Get Strong, Get Healthy and Feel Great, don't go looking any further" I am Your Trainer". My training Style is extremely Effective always Challenging and a lot of Fun. My personal promise is that I will be with you every step of the way to help you achieve your Health And Wellness Goals.

A typical first session with me will start with a consultation where I get to know you, your goals and medical history. Following the consultation we perform a movement assessment where we check for muscle imbalances, posture, and an overall look at how your body is performing. We then discuss our action plan and the ways I can assist you to help you get where you want to be. Our sessions will then include an individualized program for your specific needs and goals.

As a coach I excel at motivating everyday people to move more often. My favorite quote by Plato, “Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it.”

My training philosophy

I truly believe in full body functional exercises for almost all my clients. I follow a philosophy of movement and function to create the most effective, convenient and engaging workouts that are functional to your needs.

Functional training is a classification of exercise which involves training the body for the activities performed in daily life.

Training youth athletes is quite different so I achieve to accelerate your child's agility, balance and coordination with training techniques and drills. I use fun ways to improve footwork, control, agility, balance and coordination; even those who consider themselves non-athletic.

My training experience

I have experience training youth athletes, retirees, disabled and middle aged adults. As a certified Health Coach, I have found success combining behavior change, nutrition and exercise for many working adults. The biggest barrier for most people is time so I specialize in time saving specific exercises that get you in and out of the gym quickly with better results.

I started coaching T-Ball in 2012 and have attended many training seminars since and have the experience as an ex-collegiate Athlete. I quickly realized that training and coaching was vastly different from playing. I had played baseball for 17 years and learned all the skills, did thousands of drills, pitched in more than 100 games, and am now ready to transfer my success on to the youth athlete.

This season I am coaching and training athletes at the majors level in little league and prior to that coached kids from 6 years of age through 12.

Mark has been my son’s baseball coach for the last two springs. He always has a postive attitude, winning mentality, and great motivational spirit. He always has his players and team ready to play and compete at the highest level. Mark’s knowledge and experience with pitching, hitting, and fielding has increased my son’s baseball skills tremendously. Our family is so thankful we have had such a wonderful coach for our son!

My 12u son met with Mark for lessons in order to get back on track with his pitching. Mark arranged a meeting at a local field, quickly connected with him and worked on his mechanics. Later, Mark provided a detailed analysis along with video and suggestions for improvement. This was more personal than a lesson with typical drills and correction. Well worth it!

I really enjoy working out with Mark. He has a plan for me and he knows I like to mix it up. I'm always looking for new things to try and want to find my weaknesses and take on challenges. He is very knowledgeable and keeps me in proper form. I want to work out hard but smart and he gets that. Very happy with my workouts with Mark ?

I was trained by Mark for over half a year. With my crazy work schedule, Mark was very flexible. He is knowledgeable about work out, and he is also a nutritionist. Our section was fun but effective. I feel safe when working out with Mark because he not only pushes my limit but also he makes sure that I am not injuring myself. I will definitely hire him again in the future when I move back to Virginia.

I FULLY RECOMMEND MARK FOR BOTH YOUTH AND ADULT TRAINING AND NUTRITION. He has a special spot for working with medically at risk obese youth. Mark started working with my teen son in July 2019. It is now March 2020. Mark worked with my son at a local gym twice a week for 30 minutes. This was enough time so that it didn't get in the way of a heavy school load or peer activities. Mark also did a health/nutrition review and provided a new eating plan. My son had never worked out and was dangerously, medically, obese. Mark worked at him at the level he came in at - but pushed him enough through positive reinforcement to do more than my son thought he could. My son learned to enjoy the exercises and would tell me about how he things that mixed it up kept it interesting. With added strength came added confidence -although my son is still working on the self confidence part - and of course Mark is there to guide him through all the stages. They have a great bond a rapport that has been critical to my sons success. Mark created a new world for our family. We threw away all of the food in the house and just started fresh with the foods Mark recommended. He starts with an elimination diet to see what your body is or is not reactive too. The first 30 days is hard. but based on my experience, it is a family way of life. This would not have worked had we, as mom and dad, also followed Mark's eating recommendations. As divorced parents we did this for my son in two different households - with communication of recipes and what foods to get and not get. Everyone had to be all in. My son now tells me when I do something that is unhealthy! He now knows when he goes out that he can find things he enjoys to eat, but doesn't have to blow away progress. When he does slip, which is infrequently, Mark even taught him not to beat up on himself. We are all in this for the long run, and we are not the product of a single event. Mark did all this change with a teen that has complex medical problems and a two home family. Mark is an outstanding trainer and can change the life of you or someone you love! Just do what he says. Whatever the secret to a good trainer is, Mark definitely has it. Now, as we move into the stay at home Covid-19 phase of life of course changes need to be made again. Mark will be working with my son virtually. We didn't need a huge expensive gym at home. Just a few small specific items . Mark created a great home workout plan. Our family is grateful that Mark came into our life. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MARK FOR BOTH YOUTH TRAINING AS WELL AS ADULTS.

Compared to all other trainers I have worked with, Mark constantly pushes me, stays focused, and has a great personality and attitude. He doesn't treat our sessions like just a job - he gets invested in my outcome and how far I can go physically, to reach my goal. I am super thankful for him and it was easy to get into a groove compared to where I was just a month and a half ago! Mark is also very knowledgeable regarding nutrition, supplements that help him, and is educated about physiology.

He is professional yet kind, patient and understanding. His encouragement has given me the confidence that I needed to start my program. After one short month I am pleased with my progress and feel assured that with his continued training and encouragement I would continue getting good results and attain my goal.

Mike was a great trainer. Very motivating and he knows exactly what you need. His positive energy and attitude got me through what was needed to be done to start my fineness journey with him. He also provided me with warmup exercises and cooldown stretches that helped with my tight muscles. If you are willing to put in the effort, then Mike will too and you’ll be meeting your goals in no time! I highly recommend him.

I messaged Mark back in 2019 when I was looking to get back into shape while dealing with extreme sciatic pain. While I had hopes my sciatica would get better with healthier living, I had no idea how much Mark would be able to help me put it into remission. With the very first session, Mark identified my muscle imbalances and explained how my body could be working against itself and causing issues, and how to fix them. It was an almost "too good to be true" situation, but after a few sessions and some discipline on my side to keep at it, I had the day when I woke up and realized there was no more pain. Come 2023 I felt issues coming back. Occasional numbness in my leg, issues with neck and shoulders, general stuff. Coincidentally, Mark told me he was available again and I decided if anyone can help, he can. Once again he's been an INCREDIBLE help. Yes, I basically stopped doing what he said would work and getting back into the habit was the "magic trick", but the way he works with you really makes you feel great. No making you feel like you failed, just understanding and encouragement to keep at it. And of course, if any new problems arose, he was quick to identify them. TL;DR - if you are looking to stay healthy for the rest of your life, or you are currently having issues, or you think you had issues but maybe didn't heal them correctly...Mark should be your go-to. His understanding of the human body is incredible, and his personality is great too so it's always a joy to work out with him. Highly, HIGHLY recommended!

Mark was the trainer for my student athlete. He took the time to understand what my son needed with conditioning, strength training and agility. Mark also helped my son understand how to avoid injuries. I appreciate the time Mark dedicated to building a thoughtful program for my son. I would highly recommend Mark as a trainer for student athletes or anyone looking to get or stay in good shape!

Mark is by far the most effective personal trainer I have had. His evidence based, individualized approach is unmatched. He was always focused on me and my individual needs during our sessions, and he easily tailored my work outs based on my strengths and weaknesses. He gave me tools and tricks to correct issues with posture and diastasis recti so that I could safely move forward with more intense weight lifting. He knew when to push me, and I saw improvements in my mobility and strength within a short period of time. He also educated me in a way that fostered independence when I was not training with him. He is passionate about what he does and it shows!
