About Janet

  I'm a 2 time winner of the "Change a Life" award from Precore Fitness, with over 25 years of experience in the field. I won the award because of my dedication to helping my clients not only improve their fitness, but also regain function and fitness they had earlier in their lives. As a Senior fitness specialist, I've had the opportunity to work with clients with "lifestyle-related" illness and empower them to take charge of their health and wellness. As a weight management specialist, wiith both an undergraduate and graduate education in psychology, I've helped clients learn the behavior modification techniques central to sustained weight loss, and have helped them to get off the yoyo diet treadmill. I am always willing to go above and beyond to make sure my clients safely reach their goals, and expect my clients to work as hard as I do! 


Before becoming a certified trainer, I worked in mental health for many years, primarily seeing stress and pain management patients.I incorperate what I learned in graduate school to help my training and coaching clients. I believe that fitness is an integral part of health and wellness. I train people to be in tune with body, mind, and spirit. In addition to strength training and cardio fitness, I use nutrition and health coaching to help each client become the best they can be. I struggled with an eating disorder related to the stringent norms of being a dancer growing up on the stage in Chicago. It led to binge eating issues later in my life. I've worked hard to recover from those issues, and am happy to say they haven't been a part of my life for over 25 years. 


My favorite client story

One of the clients for whom I won the "Change a Life" award was a 60 year old teacher who had to retire because numerous fractures from osteoporosis and pain issues made it impossible to continue to teach. After a year of our working together, her strength had increased dramatically, and she officially no longer had osteoporosis. Several other issues, such as her bodyfat levels, weight, cholesterol and triglycerides had all decreased as a result of the nutritional program I designed for her,. Her energy had increased, and she was able to go back to teaching full-time, a goal she never thought she could achieve by working with a trainer.

I hired Janet to help me get motivated to workout consistently and to develop that pattern of behavior, and that has been very successful.
