About Ken

Hi, I began karate training at age 8, hit the gym at age 12, didn't know what I was doing, yet I loved the effect and hard work. I am a former consecutive State Karate Champion, Certified Karate Instructor, Certified Personal Trainer, and I help Seniors in a local hospital with their range of motion and fitness. If they can achieve great success then so can we. I love what i do and have learned all of my life from Karate, Wushu, Jui Jitsu, and Tae Kwon Do Masters and Grandmasters , Professional Boxers, Professional Bodybuilders including Franco Columbu and Robby Robinson. I love to cross train as it yields the best effects. No need to be gasping for air when you train. The workouts should still be a challenge though. Nutrition is key and I can help you to make that fun. Im not huge on Social Media, i just don't have time for it at the moment.

My favorite client story

Two Women, 104 years of age, and the other 99 years of age. The elder, comedically always reminded me she couldn't hear a word I said, and didn't have to do "anything I said" yet she really did want the exercise, through visual guidance she, performed her 5 reps of chair squats, and all other exercises, a true gem. The woman who is 99 years of age has a little shoulder ache, is on ZERO medications, says she doesn't know how it works, though her shoulder pain is almost gone. I have a lot of stories, yet these are the most prominent and enjoyable for me because I really see the positive life changes in two people who really admire and I love that I can help. Really everyone I have trained I have learned valuable lessons from. I still train my very first client in LA from 19 years ago.

My favorite exercise

Lat pulldowns, biceps, chest, karate, heavy bag, tough call. All exercises are my favorites.

"Pain is weakness leaving the body." We all have aches and pains, the right exercises and foods will drive those pains out along with breath work and meditation. No need to struggle in the gym for improvement, there should be a nice flow.

My training philosophy

If you need a rest, take it, a day off, or tow or three, Take it!!!! Go on vacation, or staycation, and use the basics, always finding a new way to confuse the muscles. Consistency is key, more so than going all out every workout, that is begging for almost immediate burn out, then what good is that?? Visualization, preparation for success, self care is important.

My training experience

Since age 8 in Karate, before that I was doing a bench press and leg extension simultaneously on the tan, yellow, brown and orange Weider home gym. No idea what I was doing. Loved Bruce Lee movies and wanted to be like him, later saw Arnold in a magazine at the dentist, and then Lou as the Hulk on TV. Ive cross trained in boxing with some notables, TKD, Wushu/Kung Fu, and learned directly from the Pumping Iron stars in either unperson when I was stuck with something, or years of reading their nutrition life hacks, gym secrets etc. Its the detail and condition they get into that takes hard work and sacrifice that i like, as you create discipline, no matter what. The goal happens.
