My name is Maxwell Faulkner and I AM the trainer for you! I am a graduate from Purdue University West Lafayette, IN where I received a Bachelors of Science with a degree in Applied Exercise and Health/Kinesiology. I originally went into the health field when I decided I wanted to help childhood obesity. Since obesity continues to grow in the United States (70% of the nation) I wanted to stop this trend by teaching kids why exercise, proper nutrition, and maintaining stress levels are important to anyone's lifestyle. I first started personal training at Purdue University's Co-Rec where I trained people, taught group exercise classes, and taught a cancer wellness class. Once I moved to California, I became a trainer for 24 Hour Fitness and LA Fitness for 2 years. Over the past 5 years I have trained children, adolescents, adults, elderly, and people with disabilities, injuries, and serious health conditions. I also was a Physical Education Teacher for 3 years in Los Angeles, CA where I taught children the fundamentals of fitness and exercise. The kids were shocked at first because they thought PE was just for sports, but instead I showed them that it was life rather then a game. PE was meant to teach you how to live your best life! Throughout those 3 years, I helped children who didn't know what exercise even was, to reaching their fitness goals. Our Muscular Strength and Endurance tests had a 93% passing rate. I trained kids who couldn't even rep out 1 push up to 40 push-ups in a span of a few months. There is one particular kid I will always remember that I never gave up on. He was a morbidly obese child with asthma at the age of 11 years old. Everyday he would come up to me and say "I want to workout Mr. Faulkner. Lets run the mile. Lets do push-ups!" With his incredible determination and dedication, he lost 20 lbs in 5 months and didn't need to use his inhaler anymore! If he can do it, so can you! I also was a Head Varsity Women's Basketball Coach at Math and Science College Prep Academy where I taught girls that didn't even understand how to dribble a basketball, to becoming a championship team. We won the CIF Division 5 LA City-Sectional Championship in 2018 and were Runner-Up in 2019. I also won Division 5 Women's Basketball Coach of the year. I love working with athletes! Overall, my specialties include: WEIGHTLOSS, SPORTS CONDITIONING, AGILITY TRAINING, CARDIOVASCULAR CONDITIONING, MUSCULAR STRENGTH AND ENDURANCE TRAINING, FLEXIBILITY TRAINING, INJURY PREVENTION AND REHAB, and more! If you are looking for a Fitness Professional that is motivating, caring, able to push you to your limits, and will stop at nothing to help you reach your goals, I am the trainer for you!
My favorite client story
I was working with a 12 year old boy named Moises. Sadly he was a morbidly obese child with asthma. I first got him into exercise by just walking and talking about his favorite video games and movies. As he started losing weight, he became more motivated to try new exercises and push himself to his limits. We ended up jogging a mile everyday, decreasing his mile time each time. Moises went from a 25 min mile to a 13 min mile in a span of 2 months. He also lost 20 lbs. At the end of the school year, he handed me his inhaler and told me that he didn't need it anymore. Tears me up every time I think about it.
My favorite exercise
Bench press, Beach jogs, sit ups (any core exercises!), push ups, etc.
My favorite quote
"Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming."

My training philosophy
To lead people in the direction of success by becoming their best self! If you work hard and push yourself, nothing is stopping you from accomplishing your goals. I not only want to help you physically, but mentally as well. In order to live a happier and healthier lifestyle, we need to focus on 3 factors that must be apart of every ones life. 1. Exercise or physical activity (30-60 mins) on most days of the week. 2. Nutrition: Eating right and staying away from saturated and trans fatty foods. 3. Maintaining stress levels: being able to take time out of your day to meditate and reflect on what went well for the day and what could have been better. Also focusing on what is more important in your life.
My training experience
I trained at Purdue University for 4 years at Purdue's Co Rec, Purdue Athletes Life Success Program, and The Ismail center for elderly people. I taught group exercise, sports, and cancer wellness classes during this time at Purdue.
I was a trainer for 24 Hour Fitness and LA Fitness for an additional Year. I was also a PE teacher for 3 years where I trained and taught children exercise. Lastly, I was a Head Women's Varsity Basketball Coach where I trained and taught sports conditioning to the team.

First Rate Experience! I am an older person with some body quirks that need attention. Maxwell was both concerned and helpful. The exercises given were strenuous without being damaging. It was a fine, sweaty workout. Just right for me and I was left with exercises I can practice on my own. I look forward to my next session.
For an 80 Year-old Body? A Custom Made Workout!! Since I am an exercise-lover who just turned 80, my wonderful trainer,Maxwell, challenges me but also watches closely to make sure my eagerness pushes me far enough but not too far. That's the true pleasure of having a caring personal trainer. Maxwell knows a good deal about the body and its capacities and now knows a good deal about my body -- both its weaknesses and strengths. Best of all, my workouts are varied. I never quite know what Maxwell has planned for me. Maxwell's routines are never quite the same so I'm never bored and that's great!!!!
Custom Training is Great! For my latest session with Maxwell it was unusually hot and because this is "personal" training Maxwell was able to modify my training in a way that was strenuous but appropriate for both me the heat. He watched me carefully to see that I drank enough water and rested when I needed to -- he adapted his training to the weather and made sure I was doing enough but not too much. He's terrific!
What is wonderful about Maxwell is that while he plans each of my sessions, we can modify the work to fit the stronger or weaker aspects of my body. Since I am an elder his flexibility is a true gift. This individualized training is one of the best things I've done for myself. Proud of that decision.
