Growing up as a dancer I always knew I loved being active. When college came around, I decided to major in public relations. I chose this major for two reasons, first reason being: I was young and lost. Second reason: I knew it involved talking and connecting with people, which appealed to me so I said why not.
While in school my passion for fitness began to grow beyond just enjoying a good workout. I began researching on my free time and wanted to learn everything there was to know about fitness and nutrition. From there I decided to get my certification as a personal trainer "just to have it under my belt". Upon graduating I went into the PR field. I told myself PR would be my career and fitness was just my hobby. After a couple of months I became very unhappy. My job was great and life was technically going smoothly, but it didn't feel right. All I could think about, was how I would much rather be helping out a friend or family in the gym or be doing anything besides sitting at a desk. People always asked me why I wasn't pursuing fitness and my response was always "Well I was in school for 4+ years studying PR, so it has to be my career."
As time went on, I realized I was lying to myself and suppressing a love that could no longer be suppressed. I stumbled across a position with Equinox, took a leap of faith and never looked back. Since entering the fitness industry I finally feel complete. There is absolutley nothing else I would rather be doing than to be helping people reach a richer quality of life, not only physically but also mentally. Not a day goes by that I don't wake up and feel extraordinarily lucky to have been able to finally combine my passion and career.

Sanam is the only reason I value health and fitness the way I do today. It is such a big part of me and it began with Sanam's influence. Over 3 years ago, Sanam began training me and to this day everything she has taught me has really been engrained in me. I was the most uncoordinated person ever. I felt insecure and felt like everyone was watching me while I was working out with her. Yet watching her and the way she was so confident and the passion she has for fitness really began to inspire me to have my own confidence in the gym. Sanam would push me and some days I wanted to give up yet she was so encouraging. She always made me understand that things take time and not to be hard on myself. She even tweaked my workouts to accommodate a back injury. She always taught me that it is all in our mind and that I can do a lot more than I thought I was capable of. I now go to the gym regularly, eat healthy and always follow the 80/20 rule. I feel extremely confident in the gym now and even have people come up to me to give them advice about fitness. Through everything she has taught me I am able to teach my own friends and family and "train" people in the gym, the way she did for me. I actually have been helping my friend and she's been having significant results. Sanam is not an unrealistic with her meal plans or her workout routines. She never gave up on me and has always pushed me. She also does not set unrealistic and strict diets. She has taught me not to worry about the scales and has taught me to always push myself in the gym. I always go higher in weights in the gym and have her encouraging words in the back of my mind. Sanam has had one of the most influential roles in my life. Fitness and health has become a way of life for me and it truly makes me feel happy and proud everyday knowing I take care of myself.
