About Jo-Ellen

I am an AFAA certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, a Massachusetts licensed massage therapist (#16003), Reiki practitioner and is certified in Integrated Energy Therapy.  I believe that the fitness journey can begin at any age.  I also feel it is important to work with a trainer that is similar in age.  Being in my 50's, I understand that you don't have to do "crazy" things to get in the best physical shape.  I feel safety and good form are of upmost importance.  My approach incorporates the five components of fitness – strength, endurance, flexibility, cardio activity, and a healthy diet.  I also believe in a holistic approach which combines mind, body, and spirit to contribute to overall wellness and improved quality of life.


My career in fitness and health began from a background in dance.  I've worked in the fitness industry since 1980 and have trained individuals of all ages with varied abilities ranging from the novice to athlete.  I also teach regular group classes in strength, flexibility, toning, aerobics, core stability, and bootcamp.


To complement my fitness background, I became a licensed massage therapist in Massachusetts. My massage services include Swedish, deep tissue, sport and chair massage; relaxation, therapeutic and pain management; Reiki and spa treatments.  My massage background has been extremely helpful with facilitated stretching with clients and also helping with daily aches and pains!  Recently, I opened Every Bodies Massage located in Framingham, MA.  I also work at the Spa in Whitinsville and State of Grace Wellness.


I frequently attends programs and courses keep informed and expand my knowledge in the fitness and massage fields.  I'm a graduate of the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy (Worcester), holds a B.S. in Education, is CPR certified and insured.

My favorite client story

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a client realize their potential and reach their goals. My greatest successes are the clients that reach their goals, transform their lives and develop an appreciation for health and fitness. Some clients have decided to become trainers or coaches to "pay it forward."

My favorite exercise

Squats are a huge favorite! So many activities involve squatting - stooping down to the floor or even sitting on the couch. I teach clients that with proper form and modification, squats don't have to hurt knees. In fact, stronger muscles will help to support the knees!

My training philosophy

I believe in a holistic approach to fitness - mind, body and spirt!. Never stop moving! One-on-one training is the most effective way of providing a safe and supportive exercise environment. You don't need a gym or fancy equipment to achieve good health and fitness. Programs using hand-held weights, resistance tubes, and a good pair of sneakers can be effective tools for meeting a client's goal.
