Hello! I’m based in Pasadena, CA and provide both in-person and online training for people with chronic pain and chronic conditions.
I’m a motorcycle mechanic, a weightlifter, a dancer, overly enthusiastic about everything, and I really like roller skating even though I’m terrible at it. I worked for ten years in the automotive industry while dealing with my own personal pileup of chronic illnesses, chronic pain, and autoimmune issues, as well as struggling with binge eating disorder (BED). I really enjoyed being a motorcycle mechanic in a lot of ways, but after spending years figuring out how to balance my own health and happiness with a rigorous and demanding job, I realized that there were more useful things I could be doing.
My favorite part of working on motorcycles is the puzzle of figuring out how to fix something that’s broken, and I bring that same enthusiasm for working out puzzles with helping people find relief and happiness from the difficult chronic conditions they’ve been dealing with. My goal as a trainer is to use the skills I’ve learned (and am still learning every day) managing the unforgiving hell my body tries to put me through to help people live more positive, healthier, pain-free lives. This means finding ways to exercise that allow you to be stronger, more mobile, and as a result more able to enjoy life.
I’ve worked hard to become the trainer I needed five years ago when I was starting to figure all of these things out and making ten million mistakes because I had no idea what I was doing. I’d love to help people like me find their path towards thriving. I want to help you skip the part in the middle where you muddle around trying to figure it out. I did that too and man, it sucks.
What training with me looks like:
A 20-minute onboarding call where we determine whether or not we are the right fit for each other.
An initial assessment where we look for any areas of pain, mobility limitations or strength/stability deficits that can be contributing to pain.
A fully customized workout program based on the results of the assessment and your preferred methods and frequency of training. Workout programs are structured with 4 week progression and include warm up, cooldown, and stretching protocols. Client feedback is encouraged and necessary to continue building safe and effective workouts. I see training as a collaborative effort between the client and the trainer; no one knows your body better than you do and your feedback is essential to the process.
Discussion of lifestyle and small habits you can practice to support yourself as we learn more about what you need and what works for you.
