About John

My workouts are challenging but fun. Every exercise my clients do has a specific purpose in terms of that client's fitness goals. I also provide my clients with emotional support and proven motivational strategies. My training philosophy is based on honest and open communication. I take time to learn about each client's goals as well as the obstacles, both physical and mental, that may have to be overcome in order to achieve the desired results. Understanding my client's mindset as it pertains to fitness allows me to design individualized exercise and nutrition programs that are uniquely tailored to the personalities and specific needs of each client.


My training experience

My personal trainer's certification is with the National Strength and Conditioning Association and I have a bachelor's degree from Amherst College. I have a background in weightlifting, running, and team sports. I've spent the last twenty years learning, through trial and error, what works for building lean body mass and what doesn't. I'm not someone who is naturally thin or strong, so I've created a system for building strength while staying at or near my ideal body weight. My lifelong pursuit of personal fitness has enabled me to design workouts that are fun, challenging, and effective.
