About Robert

www.martialartsfitness.us

I began teaching Tae Kwon Do & Hap Ki Do in my teens, and have been cross training in other martial art disciplines including Shaolin Kung fu, Capoeira, Muay Thai, and Boxing. I also have trained in a gymnastics center where I have developed skills in acrobatics, stunts, break dancing and calisthenics.

While martial arts and fitness has been fundamental in helping me become a better person, I made a series of bad choices during my late 20 to 30s. The hard-party lifestyle I had gotten involved in was poisoning my body, mind, and soul with alcohol, drugs and toxic relationships. I developed a faith relationship with God and decided to turn away from this destructive lifestyle. Because of those experiences and challenges, I can relate to others who may have similar challenges in life including addictions and traumas, be it physical or mental, and will never judge your past. I am a living example that you can break away and change your path.

Life will always give you challenges. Face them wisely, with perseverance and a will to do better. I enjoy teaching clients so that they, too, can become a better version of themselves through exercising the mind, body and soul.

My favorite client story

One of my biggest challenges with working out has always been boredom with the routines that invariably come with training. When I initially signed up with Robert, I expected much of the same. But I have been happily surprised. I’ve been training with Robert now for two years and I’ve never been as challenged as I am now. The training regimen never gets old, and Robert’s mix of tough physical training and disciplined martial arts has led me into a new world in which I would never have seen myself two years ago: the world of Muy Thai. Having never even been in a martial arts class, Robert’s training proved more than sufficient to give me the basic foundations and core conditioning to hit the ground running in my new Muy Thai class. I would recommend Robert to anyone that wants to get in shape and is interested in more than just lifting weights and running on a treadmill watching CNN through a sweat filled daze.

By taking Robert’s combative kickboxing class I overcame the plateau I had reached throughout the year. After many months of consistently working out I firmed and toned my total body. Moreover, I finally lost inches around my arms, legs, and waist! His style of teaching goes beyond the basic aerobics’ class. Robert takes the time to teach you the proper movements because he knows you will get the most out of your workout by doing it correctly. Robert pushes you to your limit because he genuinely cares about you and your goals. To my surprise combative kickboxing has given me a whole new perspective on life. I feel much more confident both physically and mentally. As Robert’s student I have achieved goals I could not believe possible in the past.

I have been training with Robert Carvajal since November 2005. Previous to that, I had never been in a gym or had any weight training of any kind. Robert is an excellent trainer, teacher and human being. Initially, when I entered the gym, I watched many people train with other trainers. After observing Robert for some time, I chose him because I noticed the rapor and professionalism he demonstrated with his clients.
All I can say is that I made the correct decision. At 59, my health is at its ultimate best and so is my body. I have learned many core exercises from Robert ,in addition to the proper use of all of the weights and machines. He did not rush me into any specific exercises earlier than I was ready to handle. Robert has made me realize that if you put your mind into your training, it becomes a healthy lifestyle, easy to follow and maintain and you become a more positive and healthier individual. I look forward to seeing him twice a week and wish I could do more.
I have been in the teaching profession for 37 years now and have met alot of educators and feel that I am a good judge of character. I have seen many teaching styles as well. I believe that Robert Carvajal has a wonderful future ahead of him because he is honest, sincere, and truly believes in his philosophy. He has “provided me with motivation, inspiration, constructive feedback and personal guidance ...so that I may consistently expand my boundaries and emphasizing total health....while building my confidence and showing me that fitness is endless and the positive results are infinite.”I could not ask for anyone better or more qualified.
