Growing up playing competitive tennis, I've always had a passion for fitness, movement of the body and finding and pushing my limits. For years I juggled a corporate career in Pharmaceuticals from 9-5 , and training myself and others in City Parks around Brooklyn after my work hours before taking Fitness as my full time career. I have been coaching CrossFit for about 5 years now and have owned my own CrossFit gym in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn since 2014. I am a huge believer in the Bill Bowerman quote "If you have a body, you are an athlete!" and I enjoy helping others find their athlete, in whatever form or shape that may take ..both physically and mentally. My current clients range from Grandmothers, an adaptive athlete whom l train in a wheelchair, weekend warriors and competitive powerlifters. Who I Especially Like Working With
Maillard says yeah buddy, all the time -that's his daily enthusiasm. And it's infectious - he believes you can do anything and he will help you get there! He brings that positive energy to his athletes and students every day. He's an excellent, patient, clear instructor who encourages through positivity. And he's incredibly knowledgeable about his craft - he stays updated on the latest news and techniques for training and for recovery and stretching. He trains safely, he is humble and just overall great to work with. So I say, yeah buddy!!
I started training with Maillard about 2 years ago following spine surgery, nerve damage, and high blood pressure. I was very timid to do anything with heavy barbells and/or running given my physical limitations but Maillard really drilled in on my form and and gave me confidence to train and set goals that will challenge me yet not risk re-injury. I have strengthened every aspect of my physical fitness and my blood pressure is at perfect levels now. I highly recommend Mailard and his methods, and there is the added bonus of getting to meet/train with some of his cool clients/athletes that train in Crossfit Prospect Heights.
I've been working with Maillard for two years now. He is incredibly attuned to your personal needs and goals. He knows how to push you so you feel like you can actually achieve the tasks he gives you. He is all about safety first and the strength will come. Maillard is also amazingly diverse in his skills and interests, and this really comes through in his coaching which includes everything from weight training, to mobility, to cardio to relaxation. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He's a real asset to my physical (and mental!) health.
