My goal is to help the world be a better place. In doing so, I believe that with each individual becoming better people we in turn will help to create a better world. I have worked with a wide range of clients from children to active older adults over a 16 year career as a fitness professional. I typically like to work with any person who has a burning desire or a very special reason to train and get fit or stay fit. Most of my sessions are challenging however they are also tailored to the individual depending on their level of fitness. Though my specialty areas are obstacle course training, group fitness, combat sports training, behavior change, and weight loss, I accommodate to every goal a client may have.
During my sessions one would work through various planes of motion as well as perform several bouts of cardiovascular exercises according to the client's level. I tend to use circuit training in combination with basic strength training for the general population and more specialized drills for others looking to perform at a particular task or competition.
In addition to my certifications I also hold the rank of 2nd degree black belt (Sensei) in Chun San Ryu, a mixed martial arts system combining Wing Chun kung fu with Jujitsu. I've played football at the high school level and also have trained in boxing starting in high school until the present. Along with these activities I've competed in Natural Bodybuilding and Powerlifting. Currently, I have competed and completed several obstacle course races.
The main reasons why I became a trainer was to one, do something I loved to do, two, help people become better people for themselves and those around them.

I started training with Maurice a few years ago at equinox gym. When he left to be an independent trainer I followed him because he is not your average trainer. Maurice will push your limits and make sure you are reaching your fitness goals. You will never have the same training session twice! He is creative and makes the sessions go by quickly with his innovative routines. I highly recommend this trainer, he can help you with any fitness goals you would like to achieve. I have had other trainers in the past but they do not compare. I am so glad I started training with Maurice and followed him during his move. One session with him and you’ll never want to workout alone again!
I train and take classes with Maurice for the last 7 years (from 2011 till present, 3 times a week). Maurice is an inspiring individual who cares very much to help you to reach the sky when you cannot even imagine that you can. As an experience trainer he pushes you to your limits , but you can trust his expertise - he will not break you. When I train with Maurice I learned thru experience to trust his instincts. As my coach, he lifted my spirits and enabled a transformation to a better, stronger and more confident me. With his help I overcame my challenges and set backs after 2 surgeries. Not just I return to my pre op state of health and endurance, I succeeded to lose 37 pounds in 6 month and adopted an improved life style having every day exercise as part of my regular daily routine, feeling happier and healthier. Having Maurice as a personal trainer and coach changed the quality of my life. I am thankful to all he did for me and hope having him as my coach and friend for many ears to come.
How fortunate was I to have met Maurice Johnson. I was introduced to Maurice by another fellow Spartan racer. Since meeting him, I have attended both his outdoor boot camp classes and regular classes. The true difference that I experienced in his classes was that Maurice wanted to improve not only my physique, but also my mind and soul. His training sessions are not only grueling, but inspirational as well. His philosophy is unmatched by any other trainer I have ever worked with. When you finish his class, you will feel invigorated from the inside out. Taking a class with Maurice is truly a renaissance of the mind, body, and soul. As Maurice is a certified Spartan SGX trainer, last year he prepared me to run the 2017 Killington Beast. The Killington Beast is known to be one of the hardest Spartan Race courses in the worId. I finished in the top 30 of women of my age group in the open heats. That result truly says it all. I'm looking forward to preparing for my Spartan trifecta with Maurice again this year. AROO!
