About Marie

I started working out and boxing to keep myself in shape as an actress, but I realized I loved sharing this passion with others, so I became a NASM certified personal trainer! My goal is to help people add value to their life by achieving their health goals in a realistic and structured way that fits their budget and time.

Where I am different from the rest is my personalized attention. The necessity of physical training and good nutrition is clear, but the lifestyle habits outside of the gym create the foundation for our growth. That's why my personalized attention goes beyond your structured workouts to include accountability tools, interactive support groups with tips and tales amongst fellow clients, and weekly follow-ups to find if there is anything we can do differently to aid in your progress. Let's get to work!

My favorite client story

My current client... we will call her Maggie... came to me with walls up and many fears. She was very open about her fears and personal struggles and how they related to her becoming obese over the years. I was so thrilled she let me in and gave me a chance to get to know her and help her start reaching her goals. She has lost 30lb since starting with me 3 months ago, and has become one of the most intense "fighters" when my clients get together for our weekly boxing training session. In our one-on-one sessions, she comes in straight from her nightshift and gets to work. One time she wanted to skip a workout because her knee was aching, but I assured her we could focus on upper body and seated cardio and she would still break a sweat. She messaged me after how grateful she was for this attention. This is why I do what I do. To help people live their life to the full and get that extra burst of inspiration to get there.

My favorite exercise

I became a boxer because it was a fun way to incorporate a practical skill into my workout. I love sweating and hitting the bag while knowing I am also working on my balance, strength, power and agility. I try to add this into workouts at least once a week with my clients. Aside from boxing, I love anything on the BOSU ball which challenges my core.

My favorite quote

Honestly, I'm not a quote person, but when it comes to working hard at something where the results may be "delayed," this comes to mind:
"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:11

My training philosophy

In order to reach your goals you need to know what you want specifically and how to realistically get there. Whether weight loss or weight gain, only 20% of the work is going to happen in the gym. The other work happens outside, and this is where I especially love to coach my clients. I try to help bridge the gap between obstacles, lack of education, motivation and accountability. Longterm results takes time, hard work and gradual change in lifestyle habits, but you have to have fun doing it, and you do have to be able to enjoy that piece of cake every once in a while! The goal is to LIVE a long healthy life, but live it to the FULL.

My training experience

I have worked at a "big box gym" where I was able to engage and learn from fellow trainers who specialized in different areas like group fitness and body building. I also worked for over a year with the LDBF Parkinson's group where I taught boxing classes 6 days a week to amazing fighters who sufferend from PD, balance and cognitive issues and limited range of motion, but this did not stop us from having an incredible time on the bags! I also have vast experience teaching group fitness classes for kickboxing, HIIT workouts, boxing for the general public, and weight training. I now work exclusively at a private training gym where I can be more flexible with pricing and client's time and interests.
