Hi everyone! My name is Jasmine Chevez and I am 22 years old. I have been training since December of 2018 and have learned so much since when I started. I recently graduated college at Binghamton University, where I had my first experience training clients. From my time there, I have experience with college students, middle-aged faculty, and senior citizens from the surrounding community. Usually, a typical session with me involves a quick 10 minute dynamic warm-up that will lead us into the workout. Depending on the client and their likes/dislikes, the workout could involve strength-training, HIIT, TRX, body weight exercises, or all of the above. I enjoy working with every type of client because each and everyone teaches me something valuable while I help them feel better in their bodies. This is really why I became a trainer. I want to help individuals be confident, happy, and healthy with who they are and their bodies. My university has a special program called, Exercise is Medicine, which connects trainers to students from the counseling center who have various mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and more. This experience has humbled me, and really showed me how important a good trainer can be in providing structure, education, and support to their clients.
My favorite quote
My favorite quote is by James Baldwin. He says, "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced". This holds true for anything and everything, but I really like its association with fitness and wellness. With my experience, it became clear to me that people are so much more capable than they believe themselves to be, and they really need me only to help them realize this truth. They must face their insecurities and goals in order to realize them.
My training philosophy
The best exercise program is the one that you enjoy doing and can stick to. I will not force any of my clients into a rigid boot camp UNLESS this is what works for them. I will not force clients to do anything that will turn exercising into a chore. I want my clients to genuinely love and look forward to their exercise. I want my clients to love the way exercise feels, and focus on the internal factors that push us to work harder, not just the external.

Jasmine was my student trainer at Binghamton University from June 2019 until March 2020. Of the eight such trainers I have had since 2012, she's the best. She was very patient and effective helping me, an eighty-year old retired professor, deal with sciatica and a chronically sore shoulder as well as a wide variety of less significant aches and pains. She's knowledgeable and eager to seek out additional information. Foremost for me, Jasmine is exceptionally personable -- always enthusiastic, thoughtful, and an excellent listener. With her intelligence, flexibility, and great people skills, I'm confident Jasmine will be very successful working with clients of many different backgrounds and widely varying goals.
