About Tess

Hello there! I'm a personal trainer specializing in assisted stretching, senior fitness, and corrective exercise. I'm also a yoga instructor and nationally credentialed diplomate in acupuncture and oriental medicine (NCCAOM). My gentle and intuitive bodywork style combines Eastern and Western approaches to create personalized one-on-one sessions that address your specific goals and wellness needs.

Stretching shouldn’t feel like a punishment and we all can use a little help from time to time. Setting a goal to improve freedom of motion is an empowering lifestyle decision that anyone can achieve, and I'm here to guide and support you along the way. I have developed my stretching protocols and yoga programs by working with a variety of people over the past 15 years, and constantly adapting my program to the needs of my new clients.?

Please see below for more info on the types of sessions I currently offer. ?I look forward to joining you on your wellness journey!

"Stretch therapy" refers to a group of techniques used to treat physical issues caused by muscle and joint restriction. Passive and active stretching, joint mobilization, myofascial release, assisted stretch techniques such as PNF, trigger point release, movement pattern and posture correction are all included in my stretch programs. Your first session will begin with a discussion about your goals and history of injuries/surgeries, followed by an assessment and a hands-on assisted stretch. At the end of their session, clients frequently report feeling less muscle tension, a pleasant sensation of increased blood circulation, and an improved body-mind connection. I love watching clients float out the door! You'll see immediate results after your first appointment and longer-term results after regular sessions and homework stretches. Over time will help to remodel your fascia, increase joint range of motion, improve circulation, and lengthen your muscles over time. As a result, your posture improves, your muscle tension decreases, and you can move with greater ease and efficiency. Stretch therapy sessions can also be adapted to take place virtually.

For a variety of reasons, you may have discovered that group classes do not meet your individual needs. If this describes you, consider booking a private session with me for a more customized yoga experience. My teaching style is gentle, calm, alignment-based, and adaptive (meaning we work together to bring the yoga pose to you rather than forcing your body into the pose). Yoga sessions can include vinyasa flow, gentle yoga, balance training, chair yoga, yin yoga, pranayama (breathwork), meditation and mindfulness training, yoga nidra (yogic sleep), and Pilates mat work. Yoga sessions can take place in person or virtually.
