PGP Fitness is run by Chris Travis. A few years ago, Chris was very out of shape. A friend asked him to do a Spartan Race in 2013, and it felt like the hardest thing he had ever done. It broke him physically and mentally. Pushing 300 pounds, he realized he needed to do something and the birth of his daughter became the key motivator. He set a goal to complete a Spartan Trifecta (all three race distances in one year) and started off running a couple times a week. Slowly, he began to integrate strength training by enlisting the help of a personal trainer. This was an eye opener. He never realized how much education he needed about exercise and the motivation to keep getting better. As he saw results, he started to love the process. He's since completed 12 Spartans over the last 3 years and lost over 60 pounds while adding muscle. He decided to pursue his personal training certification because of this journey and realizing that he wanted to help others achieve their goals. Now a NASM-CPT, Chris focuses his training on improving daily lives through total body stability, strength, endurance, and conditioning via personalized programs. When Chris is not at the gym, you can find him (still) running Spartan Races at longer and longer distances and hanging with his wife, 4 year old daughter and dog.

Chris listened to my health/flexibility issues (i.e., stiffness in hips from golfing) and instructed me on several different exercises using various equipment to strengthen my gluts/legs/core for better mobility/flexibility. Great to work with a professional trainer who can adapt exercises to a baby boomer who has limited physical strength/endurance. The PGP Fitness Center is a very clean workout facility which has plenty of exercise equipment for someone who now has the time to focus on regaining/rebuilding endurance, strength, and conditioning. I’ve been working with Chris for a month and have already seen improvements in my conditioning and strength. I love that each workout has been tailored specifically to reach my goal (finishing a Spartan Beast this year!) and each workout has been different. It keeps me on my toes and keeps things fun! He knows what I can handle and challenges me to push just a little bit more so I can reach the next level. I’m excited to see where I’ll be six months from now. As far as professionalism goes, he’s always ready for me when I get there and the workouts are efficient so I can maximize my time and move on to other things. He makes sure to explain why I am doing a certain workout and how it will help me in the race. I’ve learned so much and highly recommend him!
Chris is amazing! He is knowledgeable, motivating and encouraging. He definitely pushes you to the limit but is also cognizant of health and safety. His workouts are intense and varied yet incorporate strength, flexibility and endurance, which is essentially everything I want and need in a workout. Needless to say I highly recommend Chris, especially for people who want a challenging workout experience!
