It’s not just a passion for fitness that motivates myself to be the best trainer I can be, but a desire to help others achieve their goals and dreams. Through various methods using kettlebells, TRX, battle ropes, body weight, weights, etc., I strive for excellence above all else.
With over 10 years experience as a personal trainer, I take pride in the workouts that I design for my clients’ specific health and fitness needs. My clients will always receive a different workout each time they train with me, challenging them from a different angle every time we train. My unorthodox style of training proves I do not settle for anything less than my client’s best.
I tend to gravitate towards clients who are looking for longevity (meaning they haven't worked out their entire life and are now trying to age as gracefully as possible), senior clients, or those on the mend from a joint replacement, recovering from a stroke or post cancer treatment.
Also, having experienced a significant weight loss myself, my passion for exercise obviously extends to those trying to live their healthiest life as well!
My favorite part of my job? Witnessing clients being able to achieve a fitness/health related goal that they couldn't do three weeks ago.
My favorite client story
My favorite client story come from an 84 year old man that I started training after he suffered two strokes. He could no longer walk after his time in the hospital, so I was brought in to try and build some overall strength to see if walking again was a possibility. After 8 weeks of 3-4 times a week of training at 30 mins a session he is successfully sitting himself up in bed and then standing on his own and walking with his walker!

My whole life I have always struggled with weight loss. After 43 years, I finally "got it"!!!! Working with April has changed me, my body, and my view on living a healthy lifestyle. In May of 2012 my doctor told me that he wanted to put me on high blood pressure medication at age 33. I was at my heaviest weight ever of 347 pounds and I knew it was time to do something about it because I met April Gatlin. I began training with her and she held me accountable with my diet and pushed me to work harder than I ever thought I was capable of. Over the past year of knowing and training with April I have lost 110 pounds and have gone from a 50 inch waist to a 36 and an 3XL shirt to a large. I owe all of my success to April.
Since personal training with April, I’ve noticed significant changes in my core and overall balance and stability. Sitting behind a desk all day doesn’t do anything for your overall health so we need some encouragement and someone to push us at just the right time. Staying focused on my needs eliminates wasted time and efforts that has produced noticeable improvements.
