About Jon

My name is Jon Paul and I am the owner of Body and Way of Life Fitness. I am a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and a Judo 4th degree black belt with USA Judo. I have been training clients for over 13 years now in both fitness and martial arts training and have been training and competing myself in Judo for 26 years now. 

My trainings consist of a combination of fitness and self-defense/martial arts training. I like to utilize my background in boxing, kickboxing, judo, and jiujitsu to have the client experience a unique style of training. I have experience in strength training, toning, hypertrophy, muscle building, circuit training, weight loss, aerobic and anaerobic training. I grew up doing judo with my father and have traveled all over the world visiting many countries such as Japan, Korea, China, Germany, Brazil, Italy, Morocco, Argentina, Cuba, and many other countries for both trainings and competitions. Traveling to Japan many times for training has been one of the many places where I have improved myself as a spiritual being through self-discovery and has enabled me to find the approach to effectively connect the mind, body, and soul together as one.

Through Judo, I’ve gone through many obstacles which have become gifts in which I learned a lot about the philosophy behind the martial art and have challenged myself to grow. As of now, my accomplishments include being a two-time judo national champion, I was a two-time world team member with USA judo, I have placed in many World Cup tournaments and was ranked top 30 in the world for my division. I have been to Japan, Korea, China, Germany, Brazil, Italy, Morocco, Argentina, Cuba and many other countries for both trainings and competitions!

I am very passionate about training clients, building relationships with them, and helping everyone I train to be the best version of themselves. I train with purpose and use creativity in my craft to not only better myself, but to help better my clients and for them to reach their full maximum capacity!


My favorite client story

I had a 13 year old client that came to me weighing in at 218 lbs and wanted to lose about 80 lbs to be at her ideals weight. With proper monitoring of her nutrition and consistent exercise of at least 3-4 times a week, I was able to drop her inital weight of 218 lbs to 181 lbs in about 2 and half months and from 181 lbs down to 138 lbs in another 3 and a half months! The key with training with her was optimizing everything when it came to her physical being, emotional being, mental being, and spiritual being since I am firm believer that connecting all aspects of one's self is crucial to become one's best version.

My training experience consists of weight training, power lifting, losing weight, toning up, building strength, training towards muscular endurance and stamina, competing in national and international competitions for Judo, competing in many 5k races, and helping clients train for athletic events.

No Gym Membership Needed!

Jon has been amazing trainer to me. We have been training online in both fitness and self-defense training and the experience has been fantastic. His workouts are challenging, fun, and educational! He gets involved with you on how and why we do certain exercises and helps you outside of the training sessions with your nutrition. The self-defense portion of the training is a bonus with everything he is teaching me about basic self-defense I feel so much more confident now to better defend myself in any situation.
