I was the last one to reach the finish line in the running test, I couldn&rsquo;t even reach my toes during the stretching test AND this was the last straw during the &ldquo;Core-Strength&rdquo; test when I could barely do 1 sit-up!-- all my classmates were laughing at me to the point where my friend laughed along WITH them WITH tears in her eyes :(</span></p> <p><span><span><span><span>As a kid, my immediate reaction was to laugh at myself but deep down inside I was hurting and it was the most embarrassing moment in my life. As trivial as that &ldquo;event&rdquo; sound</span></span><span><span>ed</span></span><span><span>, it was something I carried on as I got older.&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>It d</span></span><span><span>rove</span></span><span><span>&nbsp;me to be better..to DO better..Do a lil &ldquo;Extra&rdquo; every single time. With things that matter to me the most:</span></span></span></span></p> <p><span><span><span><span><span>-&nbsp;</span></span></span><span><span><span>when a friend&rsquo;s birthday is coming up, I do a little *extra research and thoughtfulness on what is important to him/her at THAT particular moment, and he/she ends up having the most useful, sentimental gift.</span></span></span></span></span></p> <p>&nbsp;<span><span><span><span>-&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>when I&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>got into an accident later on and had to wear a brace(for 9 months) just for me to stand up, I did *extra exercises that weren&rsquo;t prescribed to me(in fact, weirdly enough: I was NOT prescribed any type of exercise therapy whatsover).&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>But I took it to my own terms to get my strength back gradually.</span></span></span></span></p> <p>&nbsp;<span><span><span><span>-&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>whenever I leave for work, I do a little *extra slowing down&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>instead of rushing,&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>so when I open the door I am aware&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>IF</span></span><span><span>&nbsp;1 of my cats are zooming out, and I look back to make sure they are in their&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>safe respective places. That way I know they are home and safe, so I can walk them on a leash later.</span></span></span></span></p> <p>&nbsp;<span><span><span><span>-&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>when I&nbsp;</span></span><span><span>gained over 30 lbs during my college years, I was frustrated and tired. Dissatisfied with my look and confidence. After several errors that may have delayed my progress, I tried *extra workouts and *extra experimentation to learn what worked best for me. I have always been physically active from a very young age as I played different team sports, especially Baksetball, and used to follow along with old Aerobics and body sculpting tapes even when I was a small child (approximately 3-5 years old). I have been a trainer for the past 5+ years and have worked in a commercial gym, strength gym and clinical setting at a physical therapy office. I am able to service a very wide range of clients from beginners to advanced lifters to post-rehab. My sessions are typically focused on making sure the exercises are catered to YOUR mobility/flexibility and I will never put you in a position that you do not "own." Meaning that if your arm can't go overhead without compensating, there is no world where I would ever give you a dumbbell for an overhead press. Sounds like a no brainer but you'd be surprised at what you see at the gym. <br><br>I value mobility and proper movement over maximal effort, but that doesn't mean I can't give you a good kick in the pants! I try to educate as much as I can during my sessions so that you are learning the "why" for the movements I am asking you to do. Realistically, I can't be with you for every workout so I want you to have the confidence to know that what you are doing isn't going to hurt you if you go to the gym on your own. I&rsquo;ve also had the privilege of training NYC firefighters and a number of post rehabilitation clients looking to get back to where they were prior to injury.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Each session is individualized. However, there are some general guidelines. Before our first training session,we perform a thorough assesment and gauge strength, range of motion and conditioning. We review limitations, internal and external stressors that may affect training and establish short and long term goals. This is done prior to our programming. We start with a dynamic warm up and if need be some additional facilitated stretching. Next, we perform our most complex movement or the most difficult lift. We allow for time in between to fully recover and review the technical aspects of the movement/lift. Next, we perform accessory movements that help facilitate the primary lift/movement. If the client is up to it. I like to end with some high intensity cardio as a finisher. Afterwards, I manually stretch the client. I have spent many 10+years strengthening my craft through hands on experience in different area of the fitness world.<br>Just like many of us, I fell into the trap of comparison and suffered from Body Dysmorphia. I hated walking by mirrors, thought I was bigger than I was, wore baggy clothes and I never wanted to take pictures. This lifestyle took a toll on my well-being. I became overweight, marital issues, debt, and overall disappointment in where I was in life. Once I started changing my negative thoughts into positive thoughts is when I realized the power I had. I regained my self-confidence, took back my wellness journey and made myself a priority. The happiness and pure joy I felt falling in love with myself was surreal. I vowed to never let myself fall back to that space again. This feeling that I gained from this lifestyle change is too great to keep to myself. My goal is to coach as many women as possible into making a lifestyle change through fitness and nutrition and self-empowerment. I’m devoted to change the narrative of quick fix diets, pills, and surgeries to a consistent lifestyle of proper fitness and nutrition.
