I love my job because I want to share my passion for fitness with others. When a client tells me they've lost 25 pounds, or that their blood pressure has gone down, it makes my day!
My training philosophy is based on functional strength, an approach that leads to not only to improved muscular strength but also improved stability, flexibility and posture.
When I meet a prospective client, we discuss their goals and medical history. Propsective clients receive a complimentary fitness and movement assessment that from which I develop a program that gets them to their goal. Typically, a session begins with mobilization, followed by a workout based on functional movements. As we go through the session, I explain the purpose of each exercise we're doing. We take a few minutes to stretch and cool down at the end of the session.
Among others, my clients include an entrepreneur wanting to improve his fitness; a person needing prehab for hip replacement surgery; a restaurant manager who lost 25 lb; a high school alpine skier; and a runner who wanted to finish the New York Marathon. She did!
My own background is as a runner and cross country ski racer. I've raced in all distances from 5 km to 100 km. Strength training is important even for endurance athletes, and it's been part of my regimen for years.
As of 30 March, my pricing is for virtual sessions rather than in-person sessions.
My favorite client story
It's hard to pick just one. But I had a 93-year-old client who had recently had a hip replacement. Part of his programming was agility drills. At the end of 3 months, he felt safe doing agility drills WITHOUT his walking stick.
My favorite exercise
Single leg, single arm squat to row: a multi-joint movement that distributes force across the body the force is distributed in the real world.

I believe, and I tell my clients, "You're stronger than you realize." I want my clients to leave the gym feeling better than when they walked in.
My training experience
I've worked with a wide variety of clients, from a high school alpine ski racer to a semi-pro football player, to people that need to improve their mobility and cope with various chronic diseases, including diabetes and osteoporosis.
