I have a B.S. in Kinesiology (Health Promotion), have been training for about 5.5 years, serving over 9000 training hours. My certifications include: ACE Personal Training. ACE Movement Specialist. ACE Health Coach. NASM Personal Training. ViPR Training. Janda's Corrective exercise techniques200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, and Exercise Therapist.
I have a deep appreciation for movement, alignment, and mobility. I tend to focus on problem areas, and work in a pattern where stabilization is key to strength and power training. I have an advanced understanding of body mechanics, and can help you maximize your time moving and being active through a variety of services I am certified to offer. I can also teach you how to stop chronic pain or stop suffering from certain mechanical diseases.
I think of exercises as movements, and prefer to train people with a wide variety of movements. Stability leads to strength, and variability is essential. I see the body as a unit and am often told I have an incredible ability to heal and teach.
My favorite client story
Most immediately to mind is a young female client who came to me in 2013 very heavy, she suffered from chronic foot pain and was generally pretty miserable. It has been nearly 4 yeas, only once a week, and she has built the habits she needs, she has active hobbies and loves doing things outdoors. She told me recently that if a year ago I said she would look forward to kayaking, or hiking that she would have laughed at me. She is down over 100 lbs and enjoys rock climbing weekly, she is a lover of movement.
Ive also saved joints from surgery, and stopped the use of pain pumps and medications by utilizing health through motion
My favorite exercise
My personal favorite exercise is a ViPR loaded scissor lunge jump uppercut, it is a transitional dynamic move that I don't often teach. Reason, I was once really going for it, and genuinely stimulated a burst of adrenaline, immediately after which I exceeded my existing pulling record by nearly 100%, subsequently collapsing for an extended rest. It is a challenging movement for me and an excellent compound interval. My favorite movement for a client is a row squat on the TRX or Tru Fit, done correctly it engages the scapula, glutes, and spine while challenging a full body loading pattern. It is a good mark of proprioception to demonstrate one successfully, and a challenging but safe movement for those less fit.
My favorite quote
"If you keep doin' what yer doin', you'll keep gettin' what you're gettin'. " E-motion the movie.
