My name is Jon, I have been certified as a personal trainer for the past 5 years. Prior to moving to NYC, I was located in Pittsburgh, where I transitioned from playing D1 lacrosse to helping others achieve their physical or athletic goals. I previously and currently have been working for highly reputable companies in the fitness industry, which has afforded me the opportunity to to receive numerous certifications and educational opportunities to become a better trainer; as well as working with a wide variety of people from, high school athletes training for college to middle aged looking to recover from injury to elderly just looking to move and feel better. My main focuses during training are largely functional in nature, to help you to be able to navigate the world with greater ease and stamina. Strength training is a passion of mine but I also head a running club and helped run a group training people for the Pittsburgh marathon.
Whatever your goals, from looking and feeling better to training for marathons and obstacle course or for tearing up the rec fields, I will put together a personalized program based on your needs and help you achieve your goals!
My favorite client story
Kevin came to me looking to get ready for a obstacle course race. Started him off right away by building a cardio routine that gradually worked him up to a mocked version of the rough terrain that usually go with those type of races to help him drop some body weight, since he was a big guy. For the training portion, we focused a lot on exercises that would best prepare him for the course. The most daunting task being the monkey bars, our whole goals being able to get him across without falling in the water. It took a while, but after around 8 weeks of swinging and carrying kettlebells, and hanging on bars, we finally got him all the way across the bars at our gym. He turned around with a big smile on his face, "that's the first time I've ever did that in my life!"
My favorite exercise
Deadlifts, a powerful exercise great for the whole body.
My favorite quote
Just do it.
My training philosophy
Strive to improve always.
My training experience
I've worked with people from just about every population you can think of. Guys in the police department trying to get fitter to be better at their jobs, high school athletes, the weekend warrior parents, people training for marathons and triathalons, and older adults just trying to move through the world better. I'm always looking for and taking classes to gain new knowledge to better serve my clients.

Jon Short is and AMAZING trainer. He knows every aspect of the personal training field. I have been working with him for over a year now. He had brought me to new heights and I conquered many goals with his training and knowledge.
Jon is the best! Within 2 weeks of working with him I noticed a change in my body. I'm "shedding for the wedding" so It is a must for me to get into shape and he has exceeded my expectations. I've burned a lot of fat off of my arms and legs and I feel so good about myself and love what I see in the mirror. If you're looking for a new trainer definitely look him up and before you know it, you'll be looking great too!!
