Hi! Thank you for checking out my profile. My name is Katie Mack and I am currently a personal trainer in the New York City area. I am a 2010 graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst (with a B.S. in Kinesiology, minor in Biology and a Pre-Med concentration).
In 2011, I worked as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor at Fitcorp in Boston, Massachusetts.
In addition to my full-time training job, I interned with Northeastern University’s Strength & Conditioning Program to continue immersing myself in the exercise science field.
In 2012, I left Boston to pursue an internship opportunity at Peak Performance in NYC (top ranked American gym) under some of the brightest trainers in the fitness industry. Soon after, I was hired as a full-time Peak trainer.
In 2013, I trained for 2 NPC bikini competitions, and in 2014 I competed in a RPS powerlifting meet. I currently participate in the sport of Olympic weightlifting and have participated in 2 meets.
I currently work with clients privately in Manhattan and am employed by Just Train by Joel Thomas, a private studio in the Financial District.
During my time in the fitness industry and through my own self-development, I have found a stunning interest in mind-body medicine - particularly in the connection between past emotional and physical traumas and current day health and wellbeing. Whether it be an unhealthy habit or addiction, chronic diseases, physical pains, or low self-esteem (to name a few examples), these can sometimes be traced back to early childhood stress or any traumatic event(s). Such events can stir the mind and body out of balance. In an attempt for the mind and body to find and feel balance, we may use food, drugs, etc. In regards to chronic disease and pain, our physiology may be working in a way that alerts us that something is not right psychologically, mentally, or and/or emotionally. Along with strength training, I am particularly interested in teaching clients nervous system/self-regulation techniques and tools that may help them during times of emotional and/or physical discomfort.
Katie is a top-notch trainer! I not only feel great, but I have lost weight, my body is tighter and stronger and my clothes fit better. Katie is professional, knowledgeable and fun! She tailors my workout to meet my goals and uses diagnostics along the way to gauge my progress in various areas.
Katie is an excellent trainer. I had stopped working out for 5 years before I met Katie and had a hard time going back. I decided to get myself a trainer and that is how I met Katie. She made the training fun and had me always motivated. She is very patient and she definitely knows her stuff. She also helped me with keeping a better diet and that has helped me a lot. The diet helped me to keep lean but most important eat healthier. Katie, you are the best!
Katie is amazing! Professional, funny, motivating and encouraging! I hate the gym scene, but working with Katie drowned out all of my fears and I was able to lose 15 lbs. in 2 months, tone up and looked Fabulous on my wedding day! Not many trainers are able to brighten your day with a smile and encouraging words like Katie can! Her knowledge of physical fitness is astonishing!
It was such a great experience having Katie as my trainer. She was always very supportive, friendly and energetic. I was worried I’d get someone who was a drill sergeant, but that was not the case. I was always excited to meet her for our appointments, because I knew I’d be challenged, get a great workout, and have fun with it. I would always leave feeling stronger and more focused on my goals. I still use her exercise circuits to this day. I look forward to training with her again, and I would definitely recommend her to others.
Katie is a very professional trainer; she is the best in training and nutrition support . . . she helped me to make my body strong and lean, she gave me an important motivation to change my life!
Had my first training with Katie who is fabulous. Easy-going and works with whatever level you are at. A big treat to work in your house, and much harder to avoid if someone is coming over! Thanks Katie.
Katie was wonderful, giving me a great workout very personally built to my needs (I have a major injury ) and working w me to create a program I can do at home. She really went the extra mile, sending me workouts to do at home as a follow up, and tons of info. She's great!!
