About Matthew
I am a Personal Trainer and Amateur Boxer/Kickboxer who loves to motivate people and get people in the best shape of their lives. I worked at Equinox for some time before going independent as a personal trainer. My goal with training people is to make training accessible and fun as from personal experience I know training can be intimidating. When training with me you will get a challenge tailored to your experience level and training that will not only make you strong, but explosive, mobile, and all around athletic. Since I am also a Type 1 Diabetic , I would love to help out anyone with other medical conditions that need someone who understands them. Otherwise, if your looking to get strong, to loose weight, to feel more physically healthy. I’m your guy!
My favorite client story
Right now, Im working with an older client on refining his boxing. He came to me with significant movement limitations after experiencing multiple surgeries from injuries that have left his movement continually impaired. After working with me an blasting some led zeppelin to get the blood pumping, he looks like he has been boxing for 4 years, rather then 6 months.
My favorite exercise
Squat and Deadlift. There are so many different variations of these movements that are all so fundamentally important for functional movement. I like to try and introduce these movements in every program so that people can get the benefits of them. Most people think you have to lift 300 pounds with these movements. You do not! Dumbells, Bodyweight, Kettlebell are all fine!
My training philosophy
You have to go to an uncomfortable place to grow, but you don't have to rush it so hard that training becomes the thing you least look forward to in the day
My training experience
I have trained as an Athlete for over 10 years, worked at Equinox for over a year, and have trained people independently for about 1 year

I have been working with Matt for a few months. He is excellent and much better than my previous 3 boxing trainers that I have had over the years. Matt is easy to communicate with. He is responsive to texts. He is very professional, personable and is always on time. Most importantly, I have improved significantly under his guidance. As he is a fighter, he notices many things that were suboptimal in my training and has corrected them effectively. I really look forward to my twice weekly sessions. Highly recommended.
Matthew really got me in shape. I used to be plagued by injuries or boredom or lack of motivation whenever I tried training myself. Matthew ended all that. He is personal and intense and powerful and exceptionally motivational. Best of all, he has gone through tough setbacks himself, which makes me feel very understood and taken care of whenever I hit a rough patch.
