ERGO is a private personal training and small group exercise studio that combines strength & conditioning exercise with the crosstraining of indoor rowing, cycling and Skierging. ERGO founder and owner Mike Creamer is a former powerlifter, an avid cyclist and a competitive indoor rower. For over twenty years Mike has been training and competing in both strength and endurance sports. He is a trainer who practices what he preaches and what he teaches. Whatever your fitness goals, Mike provides the tools, the expertise and the motivation to help you achieve them safely and quickly with his power-based training program and private Soho studio.
I'm on my second stint with Mike and it's just as great an experience as the first time. He's extremely knowledgeable and will make sure you're doing things the right way. I've been to trainers in the past that seem uninterested and bored. Mike stays engaged with you and pushes you to complete the last rep or set. The one on one sessions are great. It's just you, Mike and the gym! I was hesitant to go with a trainer again from past experiences, but I'm glad I found Mike and will be forever a client of his. Professional - Trustworthy - Encouraging - Challenging - Technical Expert. Yesterday was my first session with Mike and I really didn't know what to expect. What followed completely exceeded my expectations. When I walked in, I was pleased to find a 'spic n span' space, filled with aerobic equipment (treadmill, bikes and row machines) as well as a vast spectrum of weight training machinery. When changing in the bathrooms, I was pleased to find premium shower and soap products because this bit of luxury speaks volumes to me on how much pride Mike takes in the 'end to end' experience of his clients. Since it was our first session, Mike did a "Body Composition Assessment" using the ultrasound technology. I must say that I was extremely grateful Mike didn't have to 'pinch' the flab in my arms (this has happened in the past. ugh!). Instead, with technology and Mike's steady hand, this potentially-embarrassing process was tolerable. After we calculated my results, I was a little disappointed but Mike looked me straight in the face and said, "That's why we're here...To meet your goals" and now I can't wait to see my % body fat DROP! A Rowing expert, Mike said that he wanted to teach me proper rowing technique so that I never hurt myself and that I can unleash the Power inside of me through each drive. I didn't know what I was getting into but Mike's patience and encouragement to 'show me more power' was invigorating!!! By the end of it, I felt like I was ready for a race! While that may be a bit premature, I am excited to keep competing against myself and WIN! Tomorrow is my second session with Mike and I am really excited. I have 10 sessions scheduled with him and I am SO grateful to be in a private space, with a phenomenal professional who rides the line of kicking my butt while holding my hand at the same time! In closing, I think so often women get discouraged because they feel overwhelmed by the amount of work that needs to be done in order to 'look good'. But I have to say that working with Mike makes this challenge surmountable, and I can't wait to see and feel the results!
Mike is a pro - he knows what he is doing at all times. He keeps an eye on every move you make and supports you thru the rough times. Getting old sucks and so does working out, but with Mike it's easier. And he has a great list of songs on his iPod. If you are looking for a good trainer that has experience and knowledge, I suggest you try Anatomically Correct.
I've trained with Mike twice a week for the past 18 years and he has done a great job keeping me in shape. His workouts are fun, challenging, varied and get results. The gym is well equipped and the music is rocking. I would strongly recommend Mike if you're looking for an A+ trainer.
I've always "tried" to get in shape and worse, "tried to stay in shape" but it inevitably didn't work in the long run. With Mike and the Anatomically Correct gym/training process, I have finally found a method where I can achieve results and build on them. I can't say enough about Mike and his approach. Extremely well thought out and thorough. Plus you can plug in your own iPod for music!!! I would recommend this training style to anyone.
Mike Creamer is a true professional. I came to him last year to help me train for a decathlon. Having no experience in competing, Mike was able to train me for 6 out of the ten events, including the hardest event...ROWING! I was able to get in excellent shape and bring my body fat down significantly. The end result, I came in second place at the decathlon. I would recommend Mike to anyone of my friends or family members.
Mike keeps me motivated to leave my home on Long Island at 5am to work out with him three mornings a week. He is a consummate professional.
After a serious ski accident Mike developed a training program to rehab my leg and get me back into shape. His interactive rowing program is a great all around workout. It has really improved my strength and endurance for both cycling and skiing
One of the best things about Mike's training studio is that there are no distractions and his entire attention is focused on you. Every time I leave his gym I feel I have gotten a very effective workout
Since I started doing indoor rowing workouts with Mike it has really helped with my marathon running. In thirty minutes I get a complete full body workout
