My name is Shannon. Over the last few years, I have really delved into wellness as a whole. I have a Master's degree in Psychology and extensive experience in the mental health field, however my journey has shifted as I realize just how important the mind/ body connection is. The body is just as important to the mind as the mind is important to the body. My journey has taught me that there are so many approaches to healing but most importantly, connection to one’s body is extremely important. I plan to teach yoga postures and sequences with the purpose of better alignment, decreasing pain and discomfort, feeling fluid in one's body, increasing flexibility and mobility, and building strength and muscle. My purpose here is to help individuals connect with their bodies and ultimately their minds and in doing so, creating a more positve state of well-being.

In my sessions, my favorite moment is when someone tells me how great they feel and can't wait to come back.
My favorite exercise
Burpees! .... just kidding. One of my favorite exercises for all around core and movement is hip dips from forearm plank.
My favorite quote
My favorite quote is "Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different" by C.S. Lewis. This quote speaks volumes to me and I hope it does to you too :)
My training philosophy
My training philosophy is to listen to your body and this may take time to learn. Listen to your body to understand what it needs and doesn't need. Get rid of stigmas and the ego feelings of what you think you "should" be doing or how your body "should" look. If the goal is to be healthy and happy, then moving your body in a way that you feel it strengthening and recognizing that is what I hope to provide to you as your trainer. This is your journey and I will just be here to guide you.
My training experience
My training experience was 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Certification with Carolyn McPherson of Pranavah Yoga Studio in Long Island City. I have experience teaching yoga matt classes, as well as individual one-on-on sessions geared to the individual goals. Additional experience is my academic education in psychology, mental health, and traumatic experiences. All of this experience has helped shape me as a trainer in the fitness world.
